December 2005

  • Dec 31 UPDATE   BOIL WATER ORDER in effect for Ivydale customers on the Clay County PSD. Boil your water before consuming. The BWO was placed on the system sometime Fiday afternoon and we didn't get the information until 9:25am this morning. Our fault not Cindy's.
  • Dec 31 UPDATE All Maysel, Two Run, and Ivydale water customers should take precautions. That means you!
  • Dec 31 am  New pictures added on the PHOTO page , this site.
  • Dec 31 am BOIL WATER ORDER in effect for the Two Run and Maysel areas of the municipal system. Town maintenance man Terry Traub , Councilperson Phil Morris, and others were still working to repair a main line break near Two Run Friday night at 10pm. With rain coming down and cold temps, it was a miserable, thankless job.
  • Dec 31 am  Without his normal bravado, sometime around 3:30pm Friday, Sheriff Holcomb ended the payday standoff at the Courthouse. Without a word, the Top Badge brought the signed pay checks into the County Clerks office and laid them down and left.
  • Dec 31 am Not sure what happened or who or what persuaded whom, but the employees received their pay just before they left for the three day holiday break. Employees who were on vacation Friday stopped in repeatedly asking for their paychecks. One guy left the Courthouse early Friday saying, if they ain't going to pay me, I ain't working!
  • Dec 31 am Many in the county felt Holcomb was going to sign the checks all along and was just bluffing when he said otherwise. Still.... there were (are) some peed off government workers.
  • Dec 31 am WYAP radio is hosting a New Year's Eve celebration at the Two Run station beginning at 10pm. Munchies provided. Be there at Midnight to see the Clayberry ball drop from the tower.
  • Dec 31 am For those staying home, here's a web game sure to please the W detractors. Note: When Dubbya gets stuck between his balls, use your mouse to unwedge him!

  • Dec 31am  We're taking a holiday break. Unless there's some kind of emergency, no new posts until Monday afternoon.
  • Dec 30 pm    It's 2:30 in Clayberry. Friday afternoon. The last work day before the New Year's weekend. For Courthouse employees it's paycheck day. One problem, Sheriff Holcomb is refusing to sign payroll checks until the Commission agrees to pay three deputies for unused vacation time. If they don't get paid , no employees will receive their payday today according to the top badge.  The CCC, or at least Peter Triplett and Fran King, refuse to pay for vacation time unless the employees actual take time off.
  • Dec 30 pm  F.A.B.
  • Dec 30 pm Fran King, AKA:  FAB (see morning post for background) has been seen sporting a new little sign on her shirt. The Sign has FAB in bold print. Some think the FAB should be changes to FABIO. Translation: FAB In Office.
  • Dec 30 pm For Courthouse employees, it's going to be a dry holiday weekend.
  • Dec 30 am  Happy Birthday Tracy Sizemore
  • Dec 30 am It didn't go so well for the CCHS Panthers last night as Sissonville nipped us 57 to 46.
  • Dec 30 am We've got a couple interesting nuggets this morning.
  • Dec 30 am Last year, Assessor Teresa Lane artfully worded pay increases for her office. The County Commission OKed the increase without comment. The meeting agenda and the vote never mentioned the words "pay raises" or other easy to understand wording.
  • Dec 30 am In Oct of this year, just after Connie Workman assumed the County Clerk slot, all office staff received a $200 per month increase. Does anyone remember a public vote by the Commission OKing the increases?
  • Dec 30 am   Here's the biggy for the last work day in 2005. As of 3:30 Thursday, Sheriff Holcomb was refusing to sign ALL Courthouse paychecks.  Unless the CCC agrees to sign some vacation time checks for his office, he ain't signing ANY payroll checks.  For checks to be official, it takes three signatures, the Sheriff, the County Clerk, and the Commission President.
  • Dec 30 am What's it all about? It's a peeing contest!
  • Dec 30 am  Holcomb wants three of his deputies paid for vacation time they didn't get to use in 2005. The total for the three, amounts to $1800+. He says he has that much  and more available in his budget.  According to civil service rules, deputies are allowed to carry over 30 unused vacation days each year.   Holcomb refuses to sign anybody's' paycheck unless the three vacation checks are also OKed by the CCC..
  • Dec 30 am Not wanting to hack anybody off, up for reelection, Jimmy Sams gave the green light to paying the deputies. Commissioners Triplett and King refuse. Something about doing such would be illegal and if they start it for deputies, then all county employees should be able to cash out benefits.  Instead Triplett/King are willing to carry over the vacation days into 2006 and when the badges take vacation time off, they get paid for them. Commission President Triplett commented on Thursday that no one at the Courthouse has ever lost vacation time. For instance, long time ambulance driver Morgy Triplett has accumulated over 600 days of vacation time.  Just think what would happen if Morgy Triplett decided to cash in his 600 days of vacation.... the county would be broke!
  • Dec 30 am Full of pee and vinegar, Holcomb is ready to take the CCC to court. Holcomb says he called his lawyer and plans to file a writ of mandamus Friday morning to force the CCC into signing the three vacation checks. He said he wasn't takin no S*** from the CCC. During a telephone interview, Holcomb said he was taking his rubber signature stamp with him as he heads to the Sugar Bowl.  The top badge didn't have none too kind a word for Fran King Thursday afternoon. Something along the lines of a lardy enhanced posterior mean spirited canine of the female gender. F.A.B.
  • Dec 30 am   Sounds like a lively Friday morning is coming at the Courthouse.
  • Dec 29 late pm Dana Delbert Sears, 38, of Chloe, see OBITUARY page
  • Dec 29 pm Clickers we're coming to you for some help, some puter help. Here's the question..
  • Dec 29 pm  Right click and set up a new folder on your desk top. We want to name such a folder and use punctuation marks in the name. Windows XP does not allow for the use of / ! .+ and stuff like that. There has to be a way a work around for using punctuation marks in folder names.
  • Dec 29 pm Does anybody have a solution? Use the email box at the bottom of this page. And thanks a bunch
  • Dec 29 am  With heavy rain coming down, the chase was on last night in the Southern end of the county. Lots of badges were out chasing a blue SUV after dark. From the scanner...
  • Dec 29 am  8:00pm Green Shirt Bailey reported chasing a blue Jeep vehicle with a plywood panel where the rear  window should have been located. They were on some old strip mine road full of mud holes and big time bumps.  Funny listening to the chase. Bailey is around 6'5" and was driving his cruiser up those bumpy strip mine roads.  Each time he tried to talk, it sounded like his head was banging against the roof liner of the 2 wheel drive car.
  • Dec 29 am 8:04pm Bailey, "I [bang] can't stay [bonk] with him... Roads [bash] getting rough.." He said the road was turning to soup. Left and right and up and down they went in search of the vehicle. They were all over the place in short order!
  • Dec 29 am 8:51pm  Black shirt Jeff Rider called for a wrecker to come and pick up a vehicle on Pack Fork road. With no scanner traffic of a trip to Central Regional Jail, it sounded like the hooligans skidaddled after abandoning the 4 WD.
  • Dec 29 am  8:53pm  A license check revealed a license plate should have been on  a Chevy pick up. Our guess, stolen plates were on the Jeep SUV.  Here's the interesting part clickers. The badges had help.
  • Dec 29 am  With many people listening to the hot pursuit on their 911 scanners, locals called in with details of side roads, short cuts, and other directions the thugs may have headed. Those side road tidbits were provided the Badges in pursuit.  Not sure if that helped much, but.... it was one more instance of locals willing to help law enforcement when they know what's going on. And, one more reason for keeping police radio traffic public (not coded). Never know when the public can help nab the bad guys.
  • Dec 29 am  Thugs taking and flunking pee tests are often mentioned on this site. Ever take a pee test? That ace cub reporter did Wednesday. Here's the process...
  • Dec 29 am  Looking about like a home pregnancy test, you whiz in a clear plastic dixie cup, about 1/2 inch worth. A disposable, 3 inch long, white, plastic detector is placed in the the still frothy wee wee. After a few seconds, thru absorption, the wee saturates a soft center material on the detector. The test the Mel Gibson look alike took, tested for four drugs. Negative results were indicated by a pale pink line appearing on the absorption material. Four pale lines, you go home, three lines or less, off to the slammer you do go.
  • Dec 29 am Sheriff Holcomb said mouth swabbing is also allowed. If there is any debate on accuracy, the pee sample can be sent to a lab for 100% proof positive testing.
  • Dec 29 am So why was the ace cub reporter pee testing? He went over there to ask this question:  Is there ever a time when bad guys are allowed to whiz in a bottle and then bring the bottle to the courthouse for testing? Sheriff Holcomb, Nope!
  • Dec 29 am   Holcomb said pee tests can and are done in homes and at the Courthouse. During whiz time, there is always an officer checking for cheaters. If there is any doubt the pee laden winky is a real winky and not a whiz-a-matic fake, the suspect, criminal, thug, or reporter, has to drop his drawers and with bare cheeks hanging out, do his business.
  • Dec 29 am   As for pee testing, the hardest part is hitting the little cup. For instance, yesterday, it took both of Sheriff Holcomb's hands to aim and direct the ace cub reporter's stream. Man, the Sheriff has cold hands too!
  • Dec 28 pm  Thelma Lorraine Thomas, 36, of Maysel, Elizabeth Jones Manning, 86,  and Harriett Murphy, 78, of Maysel, see OBITUARY page.
  • Dec 28 pm Ms Thomas is the lady that was found DOA Monday morning at 12:29am. No new information on the investigation in progress. No arrests or new incarcerations at Central Regional Jail as of 2pm today.
  • Dec 28 am  Today at 10 am the Clay County Commission meets in regular session. Action packed fun and open to the public without charge. Come see a reality show second to none and without charge.
  • Dec 28 am  Down below we posted the DOA from Tuesday morning at 12:30am  Here's a little more.....
  • Dec 28 am The deceased  was a mid 30s female. Hubby was in the trailer at her time of death. They had two children. Whenever you hear of someone's face blue, you have to guess, strangulation.
  • Dec 28 am   Tuesday, the state police crime scene cargo van was seen parked at the first trailer in Sizemore's Trailer Park at Maysel. The truck was later seen up at the Green Shirt barracks.
  • Dec 28 am yesterday around 4:10pm over the scanner Green Shirt 1 What's your ETA? Green Shirt 2: They have to make some changes.
  • Dec 28 am  Green Shirt 1: Do you have it in your hand? Green Shirt 2: 10-4   Green Shirt 1: We can go ahead and start
  • Dec 28 am 4:40pm over the scanner: Call the Magistrate and tell him to hold up.
  • Dec 28 am What's all that mean? Sounds like the Badges were securing warrants, had to get some wording changed, and then executed the paperwork.
  • Dec 28 am  What's all that mean? Sounds like we have another murder investigation!
  • Dec 28 am  We'll get the coffee house crew  story and post ASAP.
  • Dec 28 am  Chad Muck was the guy charged with breaking in and stealing from area churches earlier this year. Muck was sentenced last week. Now in the slammer facing three back to back prison sentences, 1 to 10 years each. That a minimum of 3 years plus a fourth charge adding probation time when Mr Muck gets out of prison.  Sweetie accomplice Ashley Graham will come to trial in Feb 2006.
  • Dec 28 am Iraq civil war, here it comes.
  • Dec 27 am  Welcome back. Hope your holiday gift giving, dinners, and family get togethers went well. After three days of hugging and saying nice things, it's time to get back to work.
  • Dec 27 am Other than a big blaze Friday night around 8pm at joe Morris' home at Maysel, it's been quiet this holiday season. Sheriff Holcomb commented Monday afternoon that there was very little, none actually, drunk husbands beating girlfriends and wife's.  No official word on what caused, started the outbuilding fire. The building, firefighters called a warehouse, was a  complete loss.
  • Dec 27 am 12:29am this morning, over the scanner, Clay Ambulance ,DOA, call for Badges, and call for coroner for a female with history of alcohol. No further details
  • Dec 27 am Did you go out and watch a movie over the weekend? How about buy a new video game or CD? According to Variety magazine, you're one of the few.   Movie box office sales are down 5%, and a couple of the major studios are wracked by rumors of management change;  Album sales have dwindled by 7.8%, and volume at Virgin Megastores alone is down nearly 20%; Videogame sales are sagging badly despite the heralded introduction of the Xbox 360.
  • Dec 27 am  For all our swingers out there in cyber land, we've got just the place for you. Up North.
  • Dec 27 am We got The Communicator out just before Christmas break. 20 pages of some pretty interesting stuff.
  • Dec 27 am  Stop back often. We post at least once a day.
  • Dec 25 am Happy Birthday Jesus
  • Dec 25 am  and.....
  • Dec 25 am  Mary Workman
  • Dec 24 am Last night around 8pm the first call went out, structure fire beside Joe Morris' home at Maysel.
  • Dec 24 am Greg Fitzwater tore out of Go Mart and was on scene 8:12.  He called the blaze a warehouse fire. Alerts went off for Clay, Big Otter and Newton Fire Depts to respond.  With pumpers and tankers running every which a ma direction, second calls went out for more fireman. With NO fire hydrants in the area, water needed hauled. Pat Beets raced back and forth to fill up a trailer mounted tank.
  • Dec 24 am 8:30pm  Greg Fitzwater called for Forestry officials. Fitz, "the woods are on fire, it's going to his house."
  • Dec 24 am  8:40pm  Forester Joe Jelich in route.
  • Dec 24 am  Tanker after tanker, one at a time up the skinny , side road, unloaded a thousand gallons at a time.
  • Dec 24 am  Around 10pm, over the scanner, fire under control.
  • Dec 24 am Sure am glad the dynamite and blasting caps were removed last week!
  • Dec 24 am  Can't resist this one....
  • Dec 24 am You know carrying a cell phone allows Big Brother to monitor your whereabouts .... most new cars carry that same tracking device ..... and now your tele calls have been monitored by the thousands. Nope, not just if you name Alli something, Smith, Jones, Wilson... click here for some pretty shocking revelations.
  • Dec 23 pm   It's Friday morning. The sun is out in full force with blue skies galore. The yard apes are home from school and wired to the max. Teachers will finish up their before Christmas break school house chores around noonish. For all intents and purposes, Clayberry is shut down.  It's the season of giving. This year, for workers, it's a four day break from the rigors of life. It's time celebrate and spend some time with the family.
  • Dec 23 pm The Communicator will be out on the news stands sometime this morning just in time for holiday reading.
  • Dec 23 pm If we haven't said it yet, Merry Christmas to all the clickers at home and around the world. You military folks, be safe and don't be a hero. We want each and every one of you back home. Here on state side as we hurry about with shopping and last minute errands, we sometimes forget those servicing across the big puddle. Not this year, we're thinking of you and wish there was some way Dubbya's oil war was over.
  • Dec 23 pm We'll add a few more posts of note but for the most part, the staff of Delta is taking the next four off. See you after the holiday season.
  • Dec 21 pm 5:32pm over the scanner: black smoke coming from Murder Mountain
  • Dec 21 pm 5:43pm  Fire trucks roaring thru Maysel with sirens blaring
  • Dec 21 pm 5:46pm over the scanner: evrything is 10-4, just burning a bunch of tires.
  • Dec 21 pm If all goes well, the next edition of the Communicator will hit the news stands late late Thursday Dec 22nd or early on the 23rd. We're in typing mode now. No new posts until we get the near award winning paper to bed.
  • Dec 21 pm Tonight the Lady Panthers take on Herbert Hoover HS in home game action over at CCHS. WYAP will broadcast the game on 101.7FM and on the internet. For our international clickers, it's easy to hear YAP radio anywhere there's an internet connection. Go to their web site www.clayfm.com and find the blinking "ON AIR" button. Click that button, and in about 15 seconds or so ( if you have speakers hooked up that is) you can hear the game. Play by play with Linda McKinney and Dale Mullins.
  • Dec 21 pm The VFW has a great fundraiser going on to remember loved ones during the Christmas season. See the EVENTS page now.
  • Dec 21 pm During the Dec Town Council meeting, the elected folks decided to hurry up the water rate increase process by hosting a state code mandated public hearing ASAP. They planned to conduct the hearing and then vote in the 23% increase. That public hearing was slated for yesterday at 6pm. It didn't happen.  After lunch yesterday, that ace cub reporter happened into Town Recorder Dwana Murphy. Little Murph said the hearing had been changed to Jan 6th at 5:30pm in a matter of fact sort of way. Like, ahhh, letting the public know isn't that big a deal.
  • Dec 21 pm The reason the hearing was changed was to comply with state regs on how much notice the public has to be given. Such things must be published in a local "paper of record". A paper of record has to be printed at least weekly. In this county, the "paper of record" is that little paper over in Clay.
  • Dec 21 pm In that little paper over in Clay (dated today) and way in the back in the classified section, is a fine print ad alerting the public to the now canceled hearing slated for the 20th.
  • Dec 21 pm Over on our ADVISORY page is mention of Widen, high dollar water plans for Widen, and Birch River PSD.  TG Griffith works over at Clay Middle School and is a Birch River PSD Boardster. after reading the posting, Mr. Griffith felt the article was slanted all wrong. He said getting wa wa from Birch River PSD may be the only chance the people of Widen/Dille have at potable water.  For the Widen/Dille project to go, the PSD has to have 80% of the potential customers sing up for three years of service.
  • Dec 21 pm Sometimes a community doesn't want water services for a variety of reasons including not being able to afford the stuff! Take the Ben Run's community in Tyler County. There the PSD wanted to bring in high dollar water service and the people said NOPE. The neighborhood already pays $42.74 a month for sewer service. State code mandates a hook up to sewer service if available but NOT water service. Here's the info from the Tyler County paper.
  • Dec 21 pm We'll provide the complete details in this week's edition of The Communicator.
  • Dec 21 pm Unless there's something important, no new posts until Friday morning. Get your shopping done guys and going to Go Mart for beef jerky and beer is NOT considered shopping!
  • Dec 20 pm SPECIAL SPECIAL   Tonight's Special Meeting of the Clay Town Council has been RESCHEDULED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Dec 20 pm The Public Hearing on increasing water rates will be held Jan 6th at 5:30.  Town Recorder Dwana Murphy just let us in on this meeting change at Noon:30 today.
  • Dec 20 pm Who has the third highest water rates in the state? Clay Roane PSD. Clay County and Queen Shoals PSDs rank in the highest top 10.
  • Dec 20 pm For those over in Widen/Dille waiting on water service from Birch River PSD... think you're going to pay just $28 per month? Wrong! According to the Dec 16th WV PSC figures, Birch River PSD currently charges $39.38 for 4500 gallons of wa wa. Do you think those $40 bills will stay that level after Widen Dille is added on?
  • Dec 20 am  Tonight at 6pm Clay Town Council will hold a public hearing to gather comments before raising water rates 23%. If you want to have a say in the matter, tonight at the Clay Water Plant is the place to be. With the Town's increase affecting all water customers in the county, lets take an online poll. Use the link below and make your prediction: How many will come to speak for or against the rate increase?  just pick a number and email it using the link below.
  • Dec 20 am  Last night the Ivydale Elem school building was sold to Lighthouse Chapel for $100,000.00. A $5000 certified check served as earnest $. The balance is due in 30 days. The auction was conducted in spite of improper public notice (the time of the auction wasn't mentioned in the legal ad) and without a meeting agenda properly posted. Either or both issues could be grounds to toss the sale but then,  who cares that the law is being followed in Clayberry.
  • Dec 20 am Last night the 9th grade CCHS Boys team lost out to Poca, 63 to 58. Their first loss of the season.
  • Dec 20 am The Communicator will be coming out one day early, on Thursday Dec 22nd. Deadline for community events, notices, classifieds,  obituaries if you want to hurry things, is Wed morning. Get your items of interest in ASAP.  Please use the email link below.
  • Dec 20 am List of the World's Thinnest Books:  LIST OF THE WORLD'S THINNEST BOOKS:  MY BEAUTY SECRETS

  • by Janet Reno;   THINGS I LOVE ABOUT BILL by Hillary Clinton;  THINGS I CANNOT AFFORD by Bill Gates;   MY WILD YEARS by Al Gore;    AMELIA EARHART'S GUIDE TO THE PACIFIC;   A COLLECTION of MOTIVATIONAL SPEECHES  by Dr. J. Kevorkian;  ALL THE MEN I HAVE LOVED BEFORE by Ellen de Generes;  THE AMISH PHONE DIRECTORY;  MY PLAN TO FIND THE REAL KILLERS by O. J. Simpson; and, Bridge Travel by Ted Kennedy
  • Dec 19 am Ceril McClistle Fitzwater , 82, see OBITUARY page.
  • Dec 19 am 3:40 pm report of school bus fender bender wreck in Ivydale. No injuries and little to no damage to the bus.
  • Dec 19 am   How great is their desire to have Lighthouse Baptist Church the recipient of the still in use Ivydale Elem? If you look at the legal classified there is no mention of the time of tonight's auction.
  • Dec 19 am Sure makes it tough for anyone other than Lighthouse and the Southern Baptist Convention to bid on the valuable property.
  • Dec 19 am  No big deal clickers, just something else illegal in Clayberry. Heck, if they won't even post the meeting agenda as required by Open Meeting law,  who cares about any other lawful advertisement of the public's business?
  • Dec 19 am  The Braggs up on Otter Lick are full of Dec birthdays. Belated Salutations to Cliff and Hanna Lee. When you see Marge Bragg Tuesday, say Howdy Doody and Happy Birthday.
  • Dec 19 am Happy Birthday to Holly Brown
  • Dec 19 am  At times it feels like Clayberry is making progress.  Bright eyed newcomers come up with an idea and set to work on it. Newly appointed appear to be cut from a different mold....
  • Dec 19 am Tonight at 6pm the School Board meets. As has been the plan for months, School Superintendent Link will have his way as the elected ones vote to give still-in-use Ivydale Elem to a church group. Lighthouse Baptist and the Southern Baptist Convention will be the lone purchaser of the block structure for $100,000.00. Three months back community activist Elizabeth Sampson went to work to secure the school for a community center/training center/business incubator, site. The CCC, the CAEZ, and the BDA all wrote letters of support for the plan. The idea was to keep a public building for the public and a place to grow the county.
  • Dec 19 am The new deal was presented to the all powerful school system. It was met with a luke warm response.
  • Dec 19 am When it was rumored the blue blood school system had no intention of supporting such a plan, Ms Sampson attended the Dec BDA meeting and asked, Is the BDA still supporting the purchase of Ivydale School? Chair Leonard Williams said Yes.
  • Dec 19 am When she mentioned the story of the Linkster poo pooing such notions and marching arm with arm with the Church group, one guy, maybe the BDA's Jim Knotts, said the obvious, It's a done deal.
  • Dec 19 am Knotts was saying the absolute truth, Sampson's idea was a good one but the old guard school system had other plans and nothing was going to change that!
  • Dec 20 am Unless some unexpected clinker is thrown, tonight the Southern Baptist backed Lighthouse Church will lay down earnest $ and  gain control over the public school. They will own a still in use for public education school and a have a say so in who will have access to the facility. They have already said in public they would be against some groups using "their" facility. With election year coming up, forget about having meet the candidates dinners there.  If politicians are off limits, wonder if they will even allow the center of the community to be used for elections in May and Nov? Lighthouse has said they will begin to hold church services in "their new building" immediately. With the sale tonight, last week they took down their sign at their temporary digs beside Spread Park in Peachy Jarrett's place.
  • Dec 20 am  If the school system can come up with an additional $2m for the new IvyFork school at Big Otter, construction will begin in May.  The new place should be ready for students in the Fall of 2007, 20 months from now. That's 20 months one denomination church will own a public school, hold church services there, and have say so in what can and can't be conducted.
  • Dec 20 am  Just when you think things are getting better in the land of little, think again.
  • Dec 18 am   Alton Oscar Legg, 70, of Lizemores, see OBITUARY page
  • Dec 18 am From our email bag: I wish  little sister a very Happy Birthday. Her name is W. Faith Wayne. She knows I love her and would see her if I were allowed. She is in our hearts and minds every day.  Her little nephew loves his Moma Faith so very much and would love to be with her if only he could.  Love Nancy and RJ
  • Dec 18 am  With Christmas less than a week away, here's our weekly wrap up for the last seven days.
  • Dec 18 am Our servicemen and women will be spending their third Christmas in a very unpopular and senseless war. Can we trust Dubbya? After admitting to operating secret prisons in Europe and torturing people not even charged with a crime, this week he admitted to busting the U.S. Constitution and secretly wiretapping private emails and telephones without a proper court order.  Several provisions of the NonAmerican Patriot Act were stalled by Senate Democrats this week. Remember when we said there was no way Bush could have carried Florida and the computer voting machines were rigged? Well , they were. Just a simple trick of the memory card and POOF! The election is yours!
  • Dec 18 am  As we go about putting up lights, buying gifts, and wishing all a Merry Christmas, there have been 2,352 coalition deaths, 2,153 Americans, one Australian, 98 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, two Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Hungarian, 26 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 17 Poles, one Salvadoran, three Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of December 16, 2005, according to a CNN count.
  • Dec 18 am Some people say, i don't care if they come into myhouse and search. I have nothing to hide. Some think civil rights have little value. What a bunch of dumbarsses! If the feds come to the Clay Library and want to see what you've been reading, Vicky Neeley is not allowed to tell you anything about the visits. Scary? One college student just found out how scary the Dept of Homeland Security really is.
  • Dec 18 am Mid week the Clay County Commission met and heard one individuals desire to make illegal Sunday hunting. With the request to put the issue on the ballot, watch for Bible thumpers to jump on the band wagon. Seems gambling, working, drinking alcohol and porn is OK but it's time to take away private property owners rights.
  • Dec 18 am Ever so quietly , the CCC voted to look into a nw ordinance that would allow them the power to tear down any dilapidated building in the county. Lets see, that's what they wanted to do to the old Courthouse not so long ago wasn't it?
  • Dec 18 am  Sticks of dynamite and blasting caps were discovered beside the State Police detachment office near Maysel mid week. More a case of mishandling explosives from a couple years ago, Sgt. Cox said their was no intention of someone wanting to blow up Green Shirt Badges.
  • Dec 18 am  On Thursday the Salvation Army opened up Christmas give aways for the needy. Thursday morning with rain and snow in the cold air, many stood in a long line waiting their annual hand outs.
  • Dec 18 am    After 10 years of stalemate, the Lizemores/Tucker's Bottom water line extension project became reality. Stacks of forms and documents were signed Thursday and Friday. The project is a go.
  • Dec 18 am  Did you know Clay County has a world class horse ranch? We do. Here's Paul and Paulette Samples' web site.
  • Dec 18 am    Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well for example, the other day I went to Qualicum Beach and went to a shop in 2nd Street. I was only in there for about 5 minutes. When I came out there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I went up to him and said, "Come on buddy, how about giving a senior citizen a break?" He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi Turd. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a piece of stinking dog corpse. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't give a darn since I came into town by bus.
  • Dec 17 am Lots to do in the county today, see EVENTS page
  • Dec 17 am Post coming this afternoon
  • Dec 17 am     A little old lady is walking down the street, dragging two plastic garbage bags with her, one in each hand.  There's a hole in one of the bags, and  every once in a while a $20 bill is flying out of it onto the pavement.  Noticing this, a policeman stops her...."Ma'am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag..."  "Darn!" says the little old lady....."I'd better go back and see if I can

  • still find some.  Thanks for the warning!"   "Well, now, not so fast," says the cop.  "How did you get all that money? Did you steal it?"
"Oh, no", says the little old lady.  "You see, my back yard backs up to the parking lot of the football stadium.  Each time there's a game, a lot of fans come and pee in the bushes, right into my flower beds!  So, I go and stand behind the bushes with a big hedge clipper, and each time someone  sticks his little thingie through the bushes, I say: $20 or off it comes!"
"Hey, not a bad idea!" laughs the cop.  "OK, good luck!  By the way, what's in the other bag?"   "Well", says the little old lady, "not all of them pay up...."
  • Dec 16 pm  Happy 11th Birthday Austin Cole.
  • Dec 16 pm Dear Santa,  Please send me a baby brother, Billy
  • Dec 16 pm  Dear Billy, Send me your mother, Santa
  • Dec 16 pm It's time to do something nice for some forgotten Navy guys. See the ADVISORY page now.
  • Dec 16 pm  County Commission appoints executors of estates and when there's a dispute, they also appoint Fiduciary Commissioners.  We've had an ugly family battle going on since the murder of Nancy Nelson in Sept 2004. After appointing Sharon James Administrator of the estate, the CCC hired a Special Fiduciary Commissioner to straighten up the mess. During this week's CCC meeting , with the Fiduciary Commissioner's report in hand, things got messier.
  • Dec 16 pm Just before the meeting opened, attorney Barbara Schamberger (represents Sharon James and Nancy's daughter) served  papers on the elected three and told them NOT to proceed with the findings in the Special Commissioner's Fiduciary report. She said, " If you do, you do so at your own peril." After a secret time, the CCC removed Sharon James as Administrator and appointed Jerome Novobilski who represents Irene Nelson.
  • Dec 16pm Seems Barbara may have a point of contention. Yesterday, Judge Alsop  issued the temporary restraining order preventing Novobilski from doing anything with the estate. There is a hearing on the matter scheduled for Monday.
  • dec 16 pm Speaking of Barbara Schamberger, lets talk Clendenin. In our Southern border colony Clendenin, Schamberger serves as  the town's attorney. She was appointed by Mayor Bob "We can't stand him" Ore.   During Monday night's Clendenin Town Council meeting, Council dove into secret time to discuss their resentment toward their attorney. Later lead grunt Gary Bledsoe told Schamb they were not comfortable with Schamb representing the town, they had already fired her once,  and Council would file ethics charges against her! Ethics charges? Yelp, seems the Ms Schamberger didn't sit beside the right person during a recent Court hearing in Charleston. Does that sound dumb? It is and getting worser.
  • Dec 16 pm Yes, worser is a word 'cause we just made it so! And the heck with danglin participles too!
  • Dec 16 pm Remember when we reported a little kid getting mistreated and yelled out during a Nov 2005  Clendenin Council Meeting? Remember they got in a shouting match and used the N word against Schamb? During  Monday night's Council meeting, Shug Sams said it never happened! No one grabbed the little kid. No one spun him around, No one called him a liar. And,  Badges didn't separate the warring parties. Nothing happened.
  • Dec 16 pm Do you remember we posted pictures of the altercation? We did. It happened.
  • dec 16 pm Don't want to forget this. During the Dec 12th meeting, Three Badges were called into action to keep the parties separate.  Those guys know how to hold a meeting. Here in Clayberry, the most we've ever had at a public meeting was two.
  • Dec 16 pm What's behind all the fighting in Clendenin? Bob Ore was elected Mayor in June by a land slide and the old guard can't stand it. They can't stand Ore and their loss of power with Ore in charge. Ore appointed a new Police Chief, appointed himself Judge, tossed Gary Bledsoe as Police Commissioner, hired Schamberger as town attorney, and took control of the financially challenged quagmire. They can't stand Ore.
  • Dec 16 pm Don't forget, Tuesday night, at 6pm, our very own Clay Town Council is holding  a public hearing so water users can speak out in favor or against a 23% water rate increase. If no one speaks out against the increase or files a complaint, higher water bills are automatic in Jan 2006 for customers of the town , Clay County PSD, and Clay Roane PSD.
  • Dec 16 pm Let's talk other dynamite. Wednesday, dynamite and blasting caps were found on adjoining property near the State Police office at Maysel. Bomb crews came in and disposed of dynamite and removed the blasting caps for detonation some place else.
  • Dec 16 pm Sgt Cox said the explosives were NOT directed at Badges but instead, "There was no criminal attempt....It was a poor attempt at disposing them". He added that an investigation continues and charged may be filed for not having the proper licenses with the State Fire Marshall's office.
  • Dec 16 pm Don't forget the big Christmas Craft Sale at the Sheltered Workshop this Saturday. See EVENTS page for more.
  • Dec 16 pm Tonight Clay High boys hoopsters take on Wirt County in away game action. Go Clay!

  •
  • Dec 16 am Belated birthday wishes to Janice McGrady from her son Glen
  • Dec 16 am Just had an idea. The Rough and Rowdy tough person contest is coming to Charleston in Jan 2006.  Why don't we pool our money and pay the entry fee for our own little warrior, Melissa Postelwait. She's a big girl and knows how to deliver a big slap. How about clickers, want to enter MP?
  • Dec 16 am  LOST... in Dixie area German Shepherd half grown pup last seen 12-12  Answers to the name Scout Very Friendly OWNER HEART BROKEN REWARD OFFERED please cal 632-1182 or 587-7671
  • Dec 16 am Speaking of dogs, Man oh man did the Courthouse FAX machines go crazy Thursday. The national PETA web site detailed two pit bull dogs being mistreated in the Southern end of the county. They also listed phone numbers for the Sheriff, Prosecutor, and  Drema Clifton. By early morning 500 faxes had been received.
  • Dec 16 am We're talking mean arss dogs trained to go after the gonads without missing a blink. Sheriff Holcomb checked out the chained and inside a fence situation. According to the Top Badge, the animals are being feed , watered, and NOT mistreated. When he talked to the PETA people, he told the out of staters, he could go over there and take care of the situation but they sure weren't going to like his methods. Kablam Kablam.
  • Dec 16 am Ahhhh Sheriff, You might want to hone those public relation skills just a little finer please.
  • Dec 16 am Two Clayberry blogs went on line the week of Thanksgiving. Yesterday another was added. Click here for more BS blogamania.
  • Dec 16 am More on the dynamite found near the State Police detachment at Maysel later this morning.
  • Dec 16 am  Poor man's security system: Go to a second-hand store, buy a pair of men's used work boots - a really big pair. Put them outside your front door on top of a copy of  Guns and Ammo magazine Put a dog dish beside it. A really big dog dish. Leave a note on your front door that says something like "Bubba, big Mike  and I have gone to get more ammunition - back in ½ an hr. Don't disturb the Pitbulls, they've just been wormed."
  • Dec 15 pm At 1:20 pm today, 21 school systems are closed down due to the weather. Another 11 have either closed early or had delays. The Clayberry school system remains open for business. This morning the bus from Dille had to have chains to negotiate the curvy slick roads.
  • Dec 15 pm During yesterday's County Commission meeting, Billy Truman asked that Sunday Hunting be put on the 2006 ballot. Four years ago, the Legislature voted in a  new law that provided for Sunday hunting on private property. Since then, many counties have voted down private property owner rights and banned the economic development tool. Leading the charge to stop Sunday hunting were the Bible thumpers who cite the  need to keep the first day of the week, Sunday,  holy. Those are the same people that leave church,  go out to eat their dinner, head over to Go Mart to gamble the  scratch off lottery and head down to the dog track for more fun and games.
  • Dec 15 pm The last time Sunday hunting came up in this county, Commissioner Sams went on record in support of property owner rights, the need to allow those that work five day work weeks a chance to hunt on their weekend days off, and provide for increased out of county tourist traffic to come here and spend some $ while hunting on private property. With elections right around the county, wonder if Mr. Sams will change his thinking to accommodate the Bible thumping electorate.
  • Dec 15 pm   Also from Wednesday's CCC meeting, without discussion, the elected folks voted to look into a county wide ordinance which allows for the removal of dilapidated buildings. Many counties in WV have these powers and go about tearing down everything that doesn't pass their muster.  Heck, in Clayberry, if they tore down all the shacks, there wouldn't be any place for most of us to live!
  • Dec 15 pm Dynamite and blasting caps were discovered near the State Police barracks yesterday. Sgt. Cox said the explosives were NOT targeted at uniformed officers. More details Friday in the AM post.
  • Dec 15 pm  Remember David Lanham out Ovapa way?  Use to grow the pot beside his house? The Feds arrested the 55 year old. for much more serious stuff than growing pot. Details Friday
  • Dec 15 am  Somehow, someway, we managed to leave out some pretty good reading from our last Communicator. Stuff on Kevin Delk, Widen, Phil Morris, and So Help me God. The forgotten stuff is now posted on the ADVISORY page
  • Dec 15 am  are you thinking about water service on the new Lizemores/Tucker's Bottom water line extension? This morning at 10 there will be a special meeting for those wanting to sign up for wa wa at pre construction rates.
  • Dec 15 am A small band of locals along with the CAEZ have been meeting to come up with a game plan to revitalize downtown Clay. My lands it surely needs it! Today at 4:30 (see EVENTS page) they asking for public input on their ideas. With only 46 business licenses in the town, here's your chance clickers, speak your mind or 10 years from now, the only thing left, may be the Courthouse!
  • Dec 15 am  Tonight at 7pm Fred Sampson will host a live discussion group on 101.7 FM.
  • Dec 15 am Last night several Habjan gas customers went without natural gas service. Calls went out to the local provider just after dark. For those wanting help and/or file a complaint, the WV Public Service Commission may be the place to start. Their toll free number is 1-800-344-5113. Ask for the top lady, Sandra Squire.
  • Dec 15 am  Emergency Services Co-ordinator Pat Beets has some of the complaint forms on hand.
  • Dec 15 am The County Commission didn't score many points with the Summers Fork delegation during yesterday's meeting. The neighborhood group of 8 walked out! Over the last 4 months, Jean Hapney and Doris Summers have lead the charge to get something done with flooding in the area. Yesterday, the CCC pretty much said, we're done. We're not writing anymore letters. You folks need to take this matter over to Circuit Court and sue Frank Murphy, the guy that owns a couple culverts that often stop up and slow the wa wa run off.
  • Dec 15 am  How would you like to be stuck on some Navy boat, 1000's of miles from home for Christmas?  How about sending a  card to these young lads and tell them someone is thinking about them. Full details on the ADVISORY page. If you send out your letters now, there's time to get to em by Dec 25th.
  • Dec 15 am  We're working on a story. Think explosives found.
  • Dec 15 am  A husband was in big trouble when he forgot his wedding  anniversary. His  wife told him  "Tomorrow, there better be something in the  driveway for me that goes from zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat."  The next morning the wife found a small package in the driveway. She opened it up and found a brand new bathroom scale. A closed-casket viewing is scheduled for Monday.
  • Dec 14 am  Forgot a birthday Tuesday. Happy Birthday Day to Elizabeth Sampson
  • Dec 14 am This morning at 10 the Clay County Commission meets in regular session. Big long agenda too. Put on your gloves and long underwear and attend a public meeting.
  • Dec 14 am  Does your club, company, church, group put on an annual event? Wants some free publicity? The CAEZ is printing up Tourism brochures listing all 2006 Clayberry events. The pamphlet will be distributed regionally. The time is now to get your event a little free advertising. Details over on the ADVISORY page. Call today, 2006 is almost here.
  • Dec 14 am  John Habjan and his Clay County Gas Companies have been in all kinds of trouble in the last 8 years. A little over a year ago, the company was doing such a poor job supplying natural gas to the school system and homes, the WV Public Service Commission ordered the privately held company into receivership. That never happened.
  • Dec 14 am Yesterday morning we posted gas was off at Clay Elem. By 8:30 am, it was back on. We received a call from Mr. Habjan who told us the problem wasn't his this time but the folks that supply his network with gas, Mountaineer Gas Co .
  • Dec 14 am Yesterday was a milestone for Clayberry water projects. After 10 years of trying, all the paperwork was in, the first "draw down" has been made, and the Lizemores/Tuckers Bottom project is a go. The Town of Clay supplies the PSD with wa wa. When the Town raises rates next week, PSD customers will have to pay an additional 23%. Merry Christmas.
  • Dec 14 am As for PSD Chair Keith King's last month illegal meeting, not a peep. Why play it by the rules in Clayberry, who cares? No one.
  • Dec 14 am 125 families will be served this holiday season thanks to the combined efforts of the Salvation Army and Clay County Green Shirt detachment's toy and non perishable food drive. SAAAAAAAAAAALUTE!
  • Dec 14 am Jesse Sizemore worries about the cost of an ACLU suit against the county over Commissioner Sams 10 Commandments display. There  might be another suit to worry about. July 1 2004, Deputy Kevin Delk was laid off. Saber rattling papers arrived at the Courthouse over the lay off process and Delk not being called back to duty. Watch this one to grow into another costly lawsuit.
  • Dec 14 am The Communicator is now on the stands. Our front page story covers allegations of patient mistreatment and false billing practices. Lots of juice on Little Miss Melissa too. Get em while they're hot clickers! Good to read. Great for coloring in the pictures. And, when you're done, looks great in the bottom of a bird cage. As that little paper over in Clay once printed, a raunchy wipe sheet!
  • Dec 14 am  Woman goes to the Post Office, to buy Stamps for her Christmas Cards.   She says to the clerk, "May I have 50 Christmas stamps." The Clerk says, "What denominations?"   The woman says, "Heaven help us, has it come to this? Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Baptist, 10 Lutheran and 22 Presbyterian."
  • Dec 13 am Great Big Happy Birthday wishes to balding and tubby, Magistrate Jeff Boggs
  • Dec 13 am from the email bag: WISH MY HUSBAND ERNIE BELT A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON  WHILE HE IS IN IRAQ FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM WE LOVE AND MISS YOU LOVE YOUR WIFE DIANE AND KIDS DANIEL,ADELIA, HALEIGH,COLTON BELT
  • Dec 13 am BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES TO MRS. PATRICIA SUE COBURN DUNLAP EVANS.
  • Dec 13 am Man it's chilly willy this morning. Ridge tops are reporting 14 degree temps. Bundle up if you have to go out this morning. Wouldn't a warm school be more conducive to learning? Not so this morning. It's freezing over at Clay Elem. No gas. Nothing new for downtown Clay where an independent gas supplier as been reported to the regulators over and over and...
  • Dec 13 am Maybe that cold room temp and brains causes Clay elementary schools to have very very low if not the lowest, math test scores in the entire state. They don't mention that when commenting on our national schools of excellence do they.
  • Dec 13 am Many many WV school systems held up  school start times yesterday due to slicky road conditions. Clay County didn't. Down in the southern end of the county one school bus slid off the twisty road. No injuries reported.
  • Dec 13 am Right after last month's Clay County PSD meeting, Chair Keith "Mr Happy" King ran the public out of the room so he could conduct an illegal meeting. During that meeting, Happy, Simpson Neal, and Ted Underwood discussed and hired a PSD General Manager. Five days later General Manager Bill Dunn was magically transformed into a water line project manager.
  • Dec 13 am That makes two illegal meetings and two illegal decisions by the Clay County PSD Board of Directors.
  • Dec 13 am Today at noon, the same Board meets in legal session in their Main Street digs on Main Street. Listed on the agenda is the hiring of Dunn. Today would be a good time for the public to ask Team Happy what code of ethics he subscribes to.
  • Dec 13 am Ever so quietly little baby steps are being taken to secure an excursion railroad for Clayberry. This morning, crews are coming to Dundon to do field sampling of an area to be used for overnight camping. 8 acres of land between the old Dundon bridge and the ball field have been leased for that purpose. If samples come back uncontaminated or usable after clean up, another group will come in and create a design of what needs to be cut, whacked, moved, changed to have the county's first ever, public camping ground.
  • Dec 13 am Tonight CCHS boys Hoopsters head to Glenville to open their B Ball season. Go Clay!!!!!!!!!!
  • Dec 13 am Wed at 10 am the Clay County Commission meets in regular session. Big long agenda list including the ever so dedicated Jean Hapney and Doris Summers fighting to stop the flooding in their neighborhood. You Go Girls!!!!!!!!!
  • Dec 13 am Our front page story this time is client neglect and questionable billing practices at our local mental health provider. One long time employee decided to come out and say what's been keeping her up late at night. Bet they fire her butt ASAP.
  • Dec 13 am The Communicator should be on ALL the news stands later today. In the mean time, out on the long underwear and drive very carefully.
  • Dec 12  2:45 am   Roads in the county are slick. One ambulance on Sycamore Road is in need of a wrecker.
  • Dec 12 2:45 am  Scanner chatter is calling for state road salt shakers to work back roads. Too slick to travel.
  • Dec 12 3:00 am  Calhoun County schools operating on a  two hours delay according to the Hurherld web site.
  • Dec 12 am here's the link to the WV Board of Education web site where all listings are reported.  You might want to mark that as a  bookmark for future reference. It's going to be a long slicky winter.
  • Dec 12 am We're heading over to Spencer to get The Communicator printed this morning. You're on your own clickers. Be real careful out there! If we don't slide off the road, paper will be out around 4pm today.
  • Dec 11 am Hello America, welcome to Clayberry. Each weekend we provide highlights from that week that was. Here's the latest edition
  • Dec 11 am 2,135 Americans killed in Dubbya's oil war. Merry Christmas America.
  • Dec 11 am The CCHS Lady Panthers opened their hoops season with a win over Roane County.
  • Dec 11 am  The CAEZ held a big going away party for Director Jerry Sizemore Tuesday night. After five years on the job, Mr. Sizemore is heading into retirement. After 10 years of CAEZ stewardship, Clayberry is still waiting for the first non government job with benefits to be created by the grass roots organization. Maybe new Director Connie Lupardus will be more successful than Sizemore, Butler, Ellis, and all the earlier folks.
  • Dec 11 am During the Eco/Dev committee meeting of the CAEZ, word came on a grant submission for the BC&G excursion railroad and a new angle for tourism skill development classes.
  • Dec 11 am  Dispute objections from the peanut gallery, Clay Town Council penned the paperwork to raise water rates 27% PLUS a second rate increase after the Maysel booster upgrade project is completed next winter. Why raise water rates when the sewer plant is the drain on town funds? Mayor Jarrett says he wants the whole county to pay not just residents of the municipality.
  • Dec 11 am We saw a change during the Clay Roane PSD meeting. Criminal Boardster Melissa Postelwait was on her best behavior. After saying she was easy to get along with, she gave back $150 of the $475 of the "unearned income" she took from the PSD. Another olive branch was waved about. MP withdrew her lawsuit against the water provider after being told funders frowned on such outrageous conduct by public officials.
  • Dec 11 am We learned that the $500,000 for the Punkin RIdge water extension project was still available BUT the already approved application was going nowhere. A new application will have to be submitted this Spring. Translation: it's time to start all over again. While listening in on a conversation during a pee break, it sounded like Commissioner Sams was assuming a hands off approach to helping the PSD until criminal MP resigns from the board.
  • Dec 11 am  It's not often that we say something good about Commissioner Sams, but this time, good thinking Jimmy.
  • Dec 11 am Just when you think Clay Roane PSD is ready to start fresh and get the egg off their faces... The PSD decided their financial records on who gets paid what, how often, and overtime rates are no longer public records. From the frying pan to the fire they go again.
  • Dec 11 am  It's not often we can announce the opening of a new business in Clay. Happened this week when Bowen Dental opened its doors for business.
  • Dec 11 am In our Southern border colony, Clendenin Police Chief Gregory is leaving his post and heading to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
  • Dec 11 am  With news of a winter storm approaching, Clayberry went crazy Thursday afternoon. Most everyone headed to the grocery store and bought extra bread, milk, beer, and DVDs. Ball games were canceled. The storm was a no show.
  • Dec 11 am Saturday night a bunch of pretty little girls competed in a Christmas Pageant. Around the county, outdoor lights and blow up figurines began to crop up. Small town America at its best!
  • Dec 11 am An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring and showed it to him. The old man said, "I don't think you understand, I want something very special." At that   statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000," the jeweler said.  The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body  trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it."

  •       The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated by check. " I know you need to make sure the check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank on Monday to verify the funds and  I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon," he said. Monday morning, a very teed-off jeweler phoned the old man. "There's no money in that account."
"I know", said the old man, "but can you imagine the weekend I had?"
  • Dec 2 am Get rid of those old tires laying on the creek bank and behind your house. It's Tire Amnesty Days in Clayberry. See EVENTS page now!
  • Dec 2 am It's not often we go very long without some kind of nutso government official going out of control. Our week of dullsville is over.  Postelwait is at it again
  • Dec 2 am Clay Roane PSD Boardster Postelwait filed a lawsuit against the PSD Tuesday. Gene King served Boardsters with notification Thursday mid day.  MP is demanding $250 plus interest for 4 meetings she attended just after the April 13th SlapFest. With PSD finances in the gutter, NO other Board member is being paid the $75 per regular meeting fee. Postelwait is suing to get hers none the less.
  • Dec 2 am  If you get lost clickers, go out a get pick up the last edition of the Communicator for background info. You're going to need it to keep up to date.
  • Dec 2 am  Ahhhhh... that's a lawsuit demanding payment of $250 while she still owes $450 for illegal checks she wrote herself over the last 2 years. Why has no one mentioned embezzlement? When big cheese JD  Morris took money he hadn't earned,  he was found guilty of embezzling and spent time in the slammer!
  • Dec 2 am  During the most recent Board meeting, MP said it had not been proven she took the self written checks. In the same breath she said she tried to pay the $ back three times. During a court battle to remove her from office, the Judge ordered MP to pay back the $450 and she said she would.  During a  June 2005 Board meeting, she promised the Board she would pay back the misappropriated funds. They even discussed whether she would pay back the funds in one lump sum or be allowed partial payments. During that Nov. PSD meeting, MP demanded that all mention of the $450 and  pay back arraignments be kept hush hush and for no public record be kept of the back door dealings. Fortunately, others on the Board said no deal and that secret part was made public.
  • Dec 2 am So did she swipe the money? The CPA in charge of the audit said she stole the money.    Back to the latest lawsuit....
  • Dec 2 am  Clay Roane PSD  has 20 days to respond to the suit.  Since MP is suing the PSD, a corporation, an attorney will have to be paid. That cost will be paid for by the, Yep, the customers!
  • Dec 2 am But Wait There's More!!!!!!!! Now the employees are all peed off at MP. All five employees have filed grievances. The formal paperwork demands MP remove their salary, overtime, and earnings info from a web site maintained by the ever so troubled Postelwait. Of course all those records are in the public domain but..... the grievances will be just one more time consuming obstacle facing the troubled Clay Roane PSD.
  • Dec 2 am   Instead of celebrating the addition of new customers along the Amma Left hand water line extension project ( 20 on line now out of 300), Clay Roane PSD Board member Melissa Postelwait is at it again. Stand back clickers, she may get rigid with purple vibrations and go berserk again. Be warned!!!
  • Dec 2 am Happy weekend.
  • Dec 1 pm   A heavy frost covered the ground this morning. The weather report guys are predicting a light snow. Winter is here and Christmas is just around the corner. The second week of Deer Camp is about over with most in the county already back to life as usual. It's quiet in the land of little. With winter here, we've hunkered down for the next four months of cold, snow, and TV.
  • Dec 1 pm  Today the Business Development Authority meets at 5pm at the Courthouse. Come out and enjoy a public meeting. Scares em to death to see people watching!

  • Dec 1 pm  We're into basketball season with a home game tonight for the 9th grade boys over at CCHS.
  • Dec 1 pm  How about something to stoke the fires of strife.    Any of these quotes true?   "The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." -- George Washington    "This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religions in it." -- John Adams "The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries." -- James Madison
  • Dec 1 pm  You bet they're true. Here's a link backing up the George and Adams historical note.
  • Dec 1 pm And if that doesn't fire up the good Bible thumpers, try this one on. Thomas Jefferson was dead set AGAINST any religious right in government affairs.
  • Dec 1 pm  See if that doesn't get people stirred up once again. Oh I can just feel the rocks being thrown right now.
  • Dec 1 pm  He said . . . I don't know why you wear a bra; you've got nothing to put in it.   She said . . . You wear pants don't you?
  • Dec 1 pm  He said . . . What have you been doing with all the grocery money I  give you?    She said . . . Turn sideways and look in the mirror!
  • Dec 1 pm  He said . . . Why are married women heavier than single women?    She said . . . Single women come home, see what's in the fridge and go to bed. Married women come home, see what's in bed and go to the fridge.

  •
