NOV 07 PAST NEWS

Nov. 29 pm From the email bag:  WELCOME HOME - Spc Ryan Duffield who just returned to Kileen, Texas after  serving one year in
Iraq and will be in WV in December to spend the holidays  with family & friends. Glad you are home safe. Love mom, Phil & Sheena
Nov. 29 pm    Tuesday morning we posted outrage over the School Board not adhering to WV Open Meeting Laws, sunshine laws.
Since then we received an email with the person saying we just have an ax to grind with the school system. They also said the law doesn't
require a specific time frame for the posting of the meeting agenda.
Nov. 29 pm    What a load of bull. Both the WV Attorney General's office and the Ethics Commission have full time staffs to guide
numb skull appointed and elected leaders. So serious is the issue, the Ethics folks have on the books, if you follow their advice you cannot
be personally liable for an open meeting law  blunder. Both agencies mandate that meeting agendas for twice a month meetings be posted a
minimum of three days in advance (not counting holidays and weekends), on the front door of the meeting building, the agenda has to spell
out exactly what will be voted on and what will be discussed; and you can NOT add  an action item on the agenda at the last minute.
There's a bunch more too. . Don't even start on the requirement that meeting notices have to also be provided the Sec of State's office in
advance.
Nov. 29 pm We do have an ax to grind with the School Board and every other government agency that violates the law. When they take
office, they raise their hand and swear to do just one thing, obey the law of the land.  Open Meeting laws are fairly clear and there are
agencies to guide them away from troubles.   Our School Board knows the rules and chooses not to follow them.
Nov. 29 pm Some say, ho hum, who really cares?   Those folks can stop reading now and go read a weather report or something.
Nov. 29 pm  On more than one occasion, Courts have ruled that votes/decisions made during an illegally posted public meeting have to
be done over at a properly posted meeting. Such  "redo's" have had profound affects on major decisions of School Boards. Those Court
cases are costly.
Nov. 29 pm Wouldn't it be a shame for those Clay County Excess Levy dollars to be spent on suits in wing tip shoes.
Nov. 29 pm There... feel better already.
Nov. 29 am  This wet stuff could be snow or ice, or sleet. Be thankful.
Nov. 29 am We'd give a big long report on the County Commission actions from Monday except, the meeting only lasted about 9
minutes.
Nov. 29 am Before the CCC are vacancies in several Boards. Some have gone unfilled for some time.
Nov. 29 am  Commissioner Fran King announced in Sept a grant request to train young people on how to govern. She wants to include
high school seniors in the program. Good idea and none too soon.
Nov. 29 am    Wednesday morning before Turkey Day, thugs or a thug broke into homes in the Two Run area. With people asleep,
entry was gained and in one home, stuff was stolen before the thieves high tailed it out. At another house, one guy got a look at a scalawag
and fired a shot. Maybe the best thing Badges could do in the county would be to give citizen's target lessons!
Nov. 29 am We had a chance to talk with Sheriff Holcomb who said his investigation was in progress, he thinks he has one set of prints
or partial prints that will tie a suspect with the crime, and rest assured, if there is enough evidence, the thug(s) will be arrested..
Nov. 28 am  Without discussion or comment, the Clay County Board of Education voted unanimously to hold a special election Feb.
24th to ask the electorate to renew an excess levy in the county.
Nov. 28 am By law, meetings agendas are suppose to be posted for public inspection several days in advance of the public meeting.
Nov. 28 am the School's wasn't. The agenda was posted on the front door of the Board office a couple hours before the 6pm start time.
Nov. 28 am The posted agenda was considerably different from the ones mailed out to Boardsters last week.
Nov. 28 am In other counties, where constituents care and elected officials try to adhere to the law, violations of Open Meeting Law
result in decisions made during such bogus meeting being null and void.
Nov. 28 am In the Great Nation of Clay, does anybody care?
Nov. 28 am  There was a preacher whose wife was expecting a baby so he went before  the Congregation and asked for a raise. After
much discussion, they passed a rule that whenever the preacher's family expanded, so would his pay check.  After 6 children, this started
to get expensive and the Congregation  decided to hold another meeting to discuss the preacher's salary. There was much yelling and
bickering about how much the minister's additional children were costing the church.   Finally, the Preacher got up and spoke to the
crowd, "Children are a gift from God," he said.   Silence fell on the congregation.  In the back pew, a little old lady stood up and in her
frail voice said, "Rain is also a gift from God, but when we get too much of it, we wear rubbers."    And the congregation said, "Amen."
Nov. 27 pm  MAY DAY MAY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've got a screw up. Tonight's School Board meeting is at Lizemore's Elem School. I
had my head up my you you know what when I posted otherwise. My bad!
Nov. 27 pm   arma Jean Brown, of Indore, see OBITUARY page
Nov. 27 am County Commission meets today at 5pm in the new Courthouse. Nothing too exciting on the agenda but you never know
what might come up. Enjoy a public meeting.
Nov. 27 am This evening at 6pm the School Board convenes for a vote to put the Excess Levy back on the ballot for another five years.
Agenda items tonight include: Approve Levy Call for February 24, 2007;  Accept the resignation of Justin Ashley as Assistant wrestling
Coach at Clay Middle School, effective immediately;  Approve the transfer of Joshua Duffield from Nicholas County Schools to attend
CCHS;  Approve the transfer of Cara and Adam Walker to Roane County Schools from Clay County Schools.  Discussions:   Meeting
with County Commission on December 13, 2006 at 10:00 concerning lights at the Ball Field;  Cellular - One requests permission to come
to Clay Elementary for a demonstration on Wednesday, November 29, 2006;  Voting results on postings of new positions at Big Otter
Elementary;  Request for a meeting with Chuck and Larry Boggs to be scheduled by Hoyer, Hoyer, and Smith
Nov. 27 am That meeting will be held in the Standard Bryant Annex building on Gump Street. As is the norm, the School Board refuses
to follow Open Meeting Law and does not post their meeting agenda for the public to have a look see.
Nov. 27 am For our online readers of The Communicator, the ARCHIVES page has been updated. Pretty cool to see all the pics in color
too.
Nov. 27 am  A jumbo jet is making its final approach to the Tampa Airport. The pilot comes on the intercom, "This is your Captain.
We're on our final descent into Tampa. I want to thank you for flying with us today and hope you enjoy your stay in the Tampa Bay
area".
He forgets to switch off the intercom. Now the whole plane can hear his conversation from the cockpit. The copilot can be heard saying
to the pilot, "So, Skip, whatcha got planned while we're in Tampa?" "Well," says the skipper, "first I'm gonna check into the hotel and take
a big crap....then I'm gonna take that new stewardess with the huge knockers out for dinner.... then I'm gonna wine and dine her, take her
back to my room and give her a ride on the baloney pony all night long." Aghast and amused, everyone on the plane hears this and
immediately begins looking up and down the aisle, trying to figure out who this new stewardess is that the pilot's talking about.
Meanwhile, the new stewardess is seated at the very back of the plane. She is so embarrassed that she starts running toward the cockpit to
turn the intercom off. Halfway down the aisle, she trips over an old lady's bag and down she goes. The old lady leans over and says: "No
need to hurry, dear. He's gotta take a dump first."
Nov. 26 am Finally, some TV folks are calling Dubya's Oil War a Civil War. All Hell has broke loose in Iraq. To make matters worse,
Russia is now selling rockets (publicly) to Iran. Talk about a hot bed ready to explode.
Nov. 26 am Its been just two weeks since the General Election and Congress has already taken a new posture. All of a sudden Congress
has grown some backbone and investigations are under way... How said to do what... What lies were told...
Nov. 26 am  the FAA's security group was all but told to stop looking for airport security shortcomings before 9/11. Here's the head of
that department, now talking to the public.
Nov. 26 am  This country sets the high water mark. Our torture of prisoners has set that standard back years. Did Rumsfield OK the
torture. The top General says Yes!
Nov. 26 am  In Iraq, do they have enough $ to continue the Civil War. A secret US document says Yes indeed!
Nov. 26 am Closer to home, the county shut down, this week was Deer Camp. For all intents and purposes, se spent the week in the
woods looking to blast Bambi.
Nov. 26 am Instead of thugs targeting parked cars and unoccupied houses, trailers, and commercial buildings, we saw a change in
Clayberry mid week. Sometime around 3 am  Wednesday morning thugs entered homes in the Two Run area of Town while the
occupants slept. Shortly after 3 am one gun shot was heard.  No arrests as far as we can tell.. so far.
Nov. 26 am Wendesday afternoon The Communicator hit the news stand. Our front page story deals with what happens when rumors go
rampant and the affects on private individuals.
Nov. 26 am Friends and family gathered Thursday for the annual eat to you puke day. Even the hunters came out of the woods long
enough for a big Thanksgiving Day celebration.
Nov. 26 am Stock in Saran Wrap went up Friday. The clear plastic covered bowl after bowl in the frig. If you didn't eat it Thursday, you
will for the next several days.
Nov. 26 am  Warm temps returned as the week ended. Friday and Saturday brought out the Sunshine and short sleeve shirts. For Nov.,
can't beat it.
Nov. 26 am Wifey and family made it home late Saturday. How that paint got on the table cloth.... no mention of the smell of cigars
either. Made it again!
Nov. 25 am One month from now....Where has it all gone!
Nov. 25 am Today is the return of the wifey.  Let's see now...
Nov. 25 am  I painted over the beer stain
Nov. 25 am Two spray cans of smell good,  seems like the cigar smoke is all gone
Nov. 25 am  A little brown shoe polish blended into the carpet where the bleach took out the dog poop.. looks better already
Nov. 24 am  The electric sander took off most of the burnt oatmeal cookies but a bunch of the teflon too. Better hide that cookie pan
under the front porch!
Nov. 24 am Now for seven days worth of dishes, those hunks of mud on the porch,  and that burn mark on the front tile floor.
Nov. 24 am  Vacation is over.
Nov. 24 am Web post coming but honestly, little is going on in Clayberry. Everybody is still out in the woods looking for Bambi.
Nov. 23 pm  Maisie Middleton Holcomb, 63 of Clay, see OBITUARY page
Nov. 23 pm  Kris walks into his bedroom with a sheep under his arm and says:  "Darling, this is the pig I have sex with when you have a
headache."  His girlfriend is lying in bed and replies: "I think you'll find that's a sheep, you idiot."  The man says: "I think you'll find I
wasn't talking to you."
Nov. 23 am Great big Thanksgiving Day wishes to each and every clicker.
Nov. 23 am Normally our local druggies and thugs go after a parked car or unoccupied dwelling. They're getting more brazen now in
Clayberry.
Nov. 23 am Wednesday morning around 3:30am Sheriff Holcomb was heard on the scanner after responding to 911 calls in the Two
Run area. Thugs in the area had been breaking into and/or attempting to break into homes with the occupants inside!.
Nov. 23 am One Two Run resident heard  the sound of a gun shot at 3:02am. Our guess is, one of those being broke into decided that
wasn't going to happen.
Nov. 23 am Scanner traffic included one guy finding a pry bar outside his home.
Nov. 23 am Unlike in big cities where residents turn into shrinking violets, not so here in Clayberry. There is little doubt, home owners
will be sleeping with a loaded pistol on the night stand.  The next time one of the little Stone heads try something, it may be the last time
they try.
Nov. 23 am We're into day five of bachelor hood. Wifey and kid are now both at the beach. The mountain top is all quiet. Tall House is
all mine for three more days.
Nov. 23 am  There can be problems with baching it...   In addition to beer drinking, breaking wind, and getting a good scratch in, it is a
baching  ritual to fire up cigars when the wife is away. In this case it was a nice big thick cigar compliments of John Sizemore down in the
Dominican Republic.
Nov. 23 am  With the remote in one hand, a Bud in the other and chomping on the cigar, the **!! phone rang. The search was on for the
cordless phone. One step off the couch, the right foot slipped in a pile of dog deposit sending the cigar flying one way and the beer can the
other. Ring number two was heard. Ring three and the answering machine kicks in!
Nov. 23 am Hopping on the one clean foot, found it on top of the micro wave on the third ring... Yes honey I miss you too.... Everything
is just fine here, Yes I fed the dog [last Saturday]...... I miss you too.... Can't wait until you get back home..... blah blah blah....   I love
you too
Nov. 23 am Nothing can spoil an evening more than the feel of lumpy dog poop squished between your toes.
Nov. 23 am I doubt she will ever notice the burn mark on the black tile up front where the cigar landed. Paint will cover the beer stain on
the wall.
Nov. 23 am Now this is living!
Nov. 22 pm Tia Gray has been the subject of ridicule for years. Many in the county say she is HIV positive. Find out the truth!  Green
Shirts arrested Clay Health Dept Boardster Joe Morris last week on charges of battery. Thugs in Clendenin shot up a police cruiser and
shot out the PD office plate glass window. Travis Welch sentenced  to 1 - 10 years.    Clay County PSD hired a new person and put her
to work this week, all done without mention of such during their most recent public meeting.
Nov. 22pm  All that and a whole bunch more in this week's Communicator. On the news stands by 5:30 today. Good reading, 70 cents,
and worth every penny!

Nov. 21 pm  A mother is driving her 7-year-old daughter to her friend's house for a play date when the little girl asks "Mommy, how old
are you?" "Honey, you are not supposed to ask a lady her age," the mother replies sweetly.  "It's not polite." "OK," the little girl says,
"how much do you weigh?" "Now really," the mother says, a bit less sweetly.  "Those are personal questions and are really none of your
business." Undaunted, the little girl asks, "Why did you and Daddy get a divorce?" "That's enough questions, young lady, honestly!" Mom
says as her daughter is getting out of the car.  The exasperated mother drives away as the two friends begin to play. "My Mom won't tell
me anything about her," the little girl says to her friend.  "Well," says the friend, "all you need to do is look at her drivers license.  It's like a
report card, it has everything on it." Later that night the little girl says to her mother, "I know how old you are, you are 32."   The mother
is surprised and asks, "How did you find that out?" "I also know that you weigh 140 pounds."   The mother is past surprised and shocked
now.  "How in heaven's name did you find that out?"  "And," the little girl says triumphantly,  "I know why you and daddy got a divorce."
Now mom's getting mad.  She says, "Oh really?  And just why is that, young lady?"  "Because you got an F in sex."
Nov. 21 pm No more updates until the Communicator gets to bed.
Nov. 21 am  Yesterday afternoon we mentioned the bullet holes in the Clendenin cruiser. Forgot to say, two slugs went right thru the
Police Dept. plate glass window.
Nov. 21 am We're in shut down mode until we get the paper out the door Wednesday afternoon.
Nov. 21 am  Little has been mentioned of the Bin Laden family and Saudi Nationals being flown out of the USA right after 9/11. That's
flown out during the time no aircraft were suppose to be in the air! National news haven't mentioned the troubling story in years. Now a
Fed Judge is and demanding answers.
Nov. 21 am  For all the bloggers that post and then wonder, Am I going to get into trouble? The answer is no and here's the reason.
Nov. 20 pm No one will believe this but we're trying to get The Communicator out the door BEFORE Thanksgiving day. Email your
event notices and announcements by Tuesday afternoon. Deadline is 3pm Tuesday. Sorry for the short notice.
Nov. 20 pm   Shots were fired down in our Southern border colony, Clendenin,  in the wee hours of the morning Friday around 3:30am.
Nov. 20 pm   Parked, the black and white cruiser received 7 rounds from a 9 mm. No one was injured.
Nov. 20 pm   Those people really get riled down there!
Nov. 20 pm  Normally vacations are reserved for the summer months. Not so this year as wifey and family headed to the beach for
Thanksgiving break. Vacations often result in disaster with coping with everyday stuff like washing dishes, doing clothes, making the bed
and more. Although away from the house just three days, a couple things of note....
Nov. 20 pm Food items go bad real quick in the winter. They start to stink reaaal soon when the furnace is on. Ham left setting out over
night gets that slimy feel fast and even micro waving doesn't help the taste.
Nov. 20 pm After food fights with the son, leaving  12 croissants in the floor is not good. Dogs will eat all 12 croissants but when that
much goes in, it has to come out.
Nov. 20 pm Said deposits around a heater outlet will stink the entire house within minutes.
Nov. 20 pm Leaving those deposits on brown and white carpet, makes the carpet look more brown than white. Scrubbing with bleach
makes the brown spots look lighter but still a different color than it was before the deposit.
Nov. 20 am We're entering the season where sometimes... well we drink a little too much. There are dangers with such actions men.
Click for a peek at what could happen to you. This is serious business folks.
Nov. 19 pm About as fast as the Demorats took Congress, the bickering for power began. Not even on the job as top dog, Pelosi spent  a
bunch of political capital.
Nov. 19 pm With the 06 election cycle less than a week old, Prez contender John McCain jockeyed for position as he back tracked on
his support of a woman's right to choose.  While we give much attention to N Korea and Iran, Pakistan and India fired missiles capable of
carrying nuclear warheads. Don't worry about them though, they're our buddies!
Nov. 19 pm The civil war in Iraq continued it's downward spiral with more mass killings. Even Tony Blair said it's a disaster.
Nov. 19 pm  There have been 3,110 coalition deaths, 2,864 Americans, two Australians, 125 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, six Danes, two
Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 32 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 18 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, four
Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of November 17, 2006, according to a CNN coun
Nov. 19 pm  Five days ago The Communicator reported on the sentencing of Sam Murphy for his effort to blow up Sheriff Holcomb.
Three days ago, his girl friend Jackie Ruth White plead guilty on her part of the conspiracy. Based on what Judge Copenhaver said in
Court, Jackie Ruth down, two more to go.
Nov. 19 pm County Commission completed the ballot canvass Thursday evening, this time, with properly working software in the optical
scanner counting machine, Delegate Bill Stemple gained 236 votes.
Nov. 19 pm  The school calendar called for students to be in school all week. After Thursday's Turkey Dinner lunch, many snot lickers
were told you don't need to attend on Friday.  They obliged.
Nov. 19 pm In Clayberry, we prepared for our annual week of fun, deer camp. Guns, bullets, new tires for the four wheelers, and beer
were the center stage. Hard core hunters took to the woods early and replenished the deer feeders and readied tree stands.
Nov. 19 pm Around the country side shots were heard this weekend. Some were poachers but most were hunters sighting in scopes. On
the other side of the fence, landowners were busy posting their properties.
Nov. 19 pm The coming week will be a quiet one. Many are readying for shopping the day after Turkey Day. Here's the link for those
black Friday deals.
Nov. 18 pm We've got a few stats from the election canvass completed Thursday evening.
Nov. 18 pm Well, we think the canvass was completed. Before 7:30pm Thursday, with counting still in progress, the doors to the
Courthouse were all locked and closed. Jesse Sizemore managed to get into to watch the process by banging on a Courthouse window.
Nov. 18 pm Commission Prez Peter Triplett said the doors had been open earlier and someone must have accidentally closed them.
Nov. 18 pm 2335 people cast votes Nov. 7th. Of those, 219 Republicrats, 668 Demorats, and 8 Mountain Part candidates marked
straight ticket ballots.
Nov. 18 pm  This was the second attempt at canvassing the ballot as required by state code. The first attempt was aborted when they
discovered the optical counter wasn't counting all of Delegate Bill Stemple's votes. With new software programming installed, the canvass
was re-convened Thursday evening around 5:30pm. With the optical scanner working properly, Stemple added 238 votes to his tally.
Quite a difference!
Nov. 18 pm Don't forget, Sunday afternoon is the big Thanksgiving Dinner at at the high school. Area churches handle the annual event
which includes Gospel music. The world is invited, that means you!  Noon to 4 pm. Shut Ins call 587-7259
Nov. 17 pm  Ella Ramsey Legg, 86, of Duck, see OBITUARY page
Nov. 17 pm From the email bag and CAEZ: Someone brought a set of keys to the office that was found  yesterday, November 16, in
front of the office. They are for a 1994 Green Pontiac Grand Am.  It has a 96.1 the wolf plastic key chain. Thought you might put it on
your web site.
Nov. 17 pm Normally on a wet cold Friday, Clayberry would continue along at our snail's pace. Not so today. We're in high gear!
Nov. 17 pm We're getting ready for our annual week long holiday, Deer Camp.
Nov. 17 pm Today, four wheelers are being gassed up, boxes of ammo are being purchased, can't forget the cracked corn! Clayberry is
heading to the woods for a week of Bambi killing and fun. If you're planning on doing business in Clay next week, forget it! Men, women,
boys, and girls will be in the woods.
Nov. 17 pm For those interested in coming to Clay for the Fall deer harvest, don't forget, we now have a public campground perfect for
motor home and pull behind trailer camping, the JG Bradley Campground at Dundon. First come first served, they only have about a
dozen electric hook ups so far. Get your reservation in ASAP. 304 872-1757
Nov. 17 pm Clay County does not have one stoplight in the entire county. The last stoplight we had was shot out so many times, they
took it down never to be erected again.
Nov. 17 pm  With construction of the new Dundon Bridge Ski Slope continuing, crews have located two temporary stoplights along Main
Street. It didn't take long for locals to figure them out how to handle such technology. Although the wait is never more than a few minutes,
now, when the light turns yellow and then red, the buses, cars, and trucks keep on going!
Nov. 17 pm  It's fun to watch how many motorists are brazen enough to keep on going. The record so far is 8 vehicles driving thru the
just changed to red light.
Nov. 17 pm If you're looking for something to do tonight, the Big Otter Community Center is once again hosting Friday night sings
beginning at 7pm. Bluegrass, Country and Gospel music and concessions second to none!
Nov. 16 pm Just when you think things have settled down, they ain't
Nov. 16 pm  Wednesday morning around 1 am, four dumb thugs made off with a truck parked at Telford's Chevy.
Nov. 16 pm The truck was parked there for repairs and even had a note on it reading, transmission out.  The pick up made it about the
length of a football field and a had a stream of transmission fluid dribbling the entire way.
Nov. 16 pm Dumb thugs indeed. The Farm Store on that end of town has security cameras everywhere and captured their images from a
couple different angles.
Nov. 16 pm With that first truck dead, the determined thieves walked to the other end of town where they swiped a truck parked near
the Library and high tailed it out of town. Although not confirmed, we understand that second vehicle was recovered in the Ovapa area. It
had been torched.
Nov. 16 pm This morning around 9 am Sheriff Holcomb was heard on the scanner investigating a larceny case in the Southern end of the
county.
Nov. 16 am  The County Commission will try once again to canvass the General Election today at the Courthouse beginning around
5pm. It's open to the public, free, with soft seats, and the roof doesn't leak.
Nov. 16 am   What's it matter, cutting down a couple pine trees? Who cares?
Nov. 16 am From the email bag: Those trees have been there for very, very long time and to cut them down for the VFW war memorial,
can't they find another location. Like right in front of the new courthouse or the ugly lot between the Clay PSD and the NAPA store. I
too am a veteran, but to cut down those beautiful evergreen  trees would break my heart more then not having the VFW war memorial.
Come on Town Council members pick another spot. I sent a contribution for the VFW war memorial, send it back, I would rather have
the trees.   Sharon Faunce  (SKC, US Navy retired)
Nov. 16 am Back a few years ago, someone else wanted to cut down the two big Spruces in front of the old Courthouse. When it came
up during a Commission meeting, Jimmy Sams commented; Oh no, I ain't getting into that again. Nooooo Way!
Nov. 16 am I think Sams was referring to when some knucklehead cut off the bottom limbs of the trees the summer before.
Nov. 16 am Like so many times in Clayberry, we do things without thinking. It looks like we're ready to go down that road again.
Nov. 15 pm For this next post to make sense, you need to get a copy of the latest Communicator.
Nov. 15 pm Yesterday Jackie Ruth White of Clay was arrested by the Feds for her part in the Sam Murphy case.
Nov. 15 pm Murphy tried to blow up our Top Badge last Fall.  Already on probation back then and subject to wee wee testing, Murphy
flunked  a pee test (wore a fake winky) and was carted off to the slammer. While in the can Murphy made phone calls to his girlfriend
Jackie Ruth and set up a plan to get drugs into Central Regional Jail.
Nov. 15 pm During last week's sentencing of Sam Murphy, White, her sister, and a Cook subject were named as conspirators during the
courtroom time.
Nov. 15 pm Murphy sentenced, Donnie Welch arrested, Jackie Ruth pleading guilty, and maybe two more arrests coming, those Fed
boys and girls need to set up an office here in Clayberry, might be cheaper than paying  commuting.
Nov. 15 pm Pick up a copy of the Communicator, the lead story is worth the 70 cents!
Nov. 15 am  In yesterday afternoon's post we mentioned the serious problem of the counting machine not properly counting straight
ticket voters.
Nov. 15 am We neglected to mention, the County Commission refuses to certify the results, required by law, until the machine is
working properly.
  Nov. 15 am Good!
Nov. 15 am Check out the ADVISORY page for a Heart to Heart notice.
Nov. 15 am Think it's bad here. Take a look at Denver.
Nov. 14 pm  Clay County PSD meets today at 5pm.
Nov. 14 pm We posted the Library would be closed this week for new carpeting and repairs. That's been changed. The new carpet
arrived but it was the wrong stuff. From the email bag: Sorry for the confusion.  The wrong carpet was delivered, so we will be open  this
week.  We will be closing Thanksgiving week and the following week.   From November 21 through November 30.  If everything is
completed earlier than anticipated, we will reopen early.  Thanks.  Vickie
Nov. 14 pm After each election, the County Commission is required to "canvass the vote". That means they give the results a once over
for any glaring mistakes. The process includes picking one precinct and actually doing a hand count.
Nov. 14 pm During Monday's canvass things went bad real quick. The CCC chose precinct 37  for the hand counting chore. What the
optical scanner machine came up with and what humans ciphered were 28 notches off.
Nov. 14 pm The problem has been figured out. The optical scanner did NOT register Delegates Bill Stemples votes if the voter
"scratched the chicken." Translation: If you voted a straight ticket on the Demorat party, Stemple did not get credit.
Nov. 14 pm Although Stemple was uncontested, the difference made no difference in the outcomes. BUT, just think what that could do
in a tight election year. Also, since the Commission is required to check just one precinct by hand, the wonder is, what about other errors?
Nov. 14 pm The vote canvass was stopped Monday until the glitch can be corrected. New software programming has been ordered. It is
expected that Thursday evening  Kookla, Fran and Olie will again try to count votes.
Nov. 14 pm On Main Street, in front of the old Courthouse stand two beautiful evergreen trees.
Nov. 14 pm During the last Town Council meeting, Jerry Stover made public, there are plans to cut the tall and majestic trees down to
make way for the new VFW war memorial. The concern is that the roots of the trees may sometime down the road impact the proposed
VFW facility. Such actions are typical in small town America where making and following a business plan is never in the equation.
Nov. 14 pm If we had a plan of attack , a business plan, for our future, it would certainly include keeping the beauty we already have
(trees) and setting the memorial at the long time needed community park which is currently an ugly empty lot between Clay PSD and the
NAPA store..
Nov. 14 pm  After 50 1/2 years on the job, barber Otto Brown retired Oct 28th.
Nov. 14 pm We have a new place, Larry and Donna's Barber Shop now occupying that same Main Street address. They open Monday.
Hours 8 to 5 Monday thru Friday and Saturday's until 2pm. Welcome to Clayberry Larry!
Nov. 13 pm Communicator is done.
Nov. 13 am 19,000 days missed last year in Clay County schools..... a new committee formed to look at problems with our three housing
projects managed by Encore ... Who's next to get the Federal look see ..... the school excess levy... and a whole bunch more in Today's
Communicator. Should be on the news stands around 5pm today
Nov. 13 am Beginning at 9 this morning, the County Commission will begin canvassing the vote from last Tuesday's General Election.
The process is open to the public. Head over to the Courthouse for a warm place to spend the day.
Nov. 12 pm It was a week of change. Big change!
Nov. 12 pm  After months of campaign lies and distortions, the great change happened. In 1994, the Repubs took control of Washington.
In '95 Newt came along and the party assumed the mantel of evangelical conservatism. For the last five years, Demorats laid down and
played dead. Repubs had the lock on morals and decency.
Nov. 12 pm  It's tough to stay up on that white horse. Tuesday night that horse stumbled big time.
Nov. 12 pm  That BS of elections being all local was tossed aside. Team Rove worked to spin something about immigration and don't let
those tax raising Demorats back in power. America saw thru the rhetoric. Tuesday's General election was all about Dubbya's Oil War and
his lies.
Nov. 12 pm  Most important from Tuesday? The chance for Congressional investigation into the White House. Voters out West put an
end to trying to over throw Roe v Wade and initiatives to put Judges in jail when they decide controversial opinions.
Nov. 12 pm For those that think "Bush lies" is too strong.... Three days before the election, W said Rummy was there for the duration
and doing an outstanding show. Within hours of the election, W forced Rummy out of office. He was either lying earlier or lying
Wednesday when our top defense man left office.
Nov. 12 pm  In 00 and 04 rigged electronic voting machines made center stage. This year the new and improved machines did the same
thing again but we're hearing very little about the problems. We even had "glitches" here in Clayberry with the first time ever to be used,
"PEB" reader.
Nov. 12 pm After a solid seven weeks of H, Randy White retained his Senate seat by a comfortable 1200 vote margin. That little itty
butty paper over in Clay took his $ for advertising with one hand and with the other hand, gave him editorial grief to no end. When the
dust settled, White won because the voters, said,  I don't care what he does in his off time, he does a great job representing us in
Charleston. Voters said one other thang, "Randy, you screwed up once, DON'T let it happen again!!!!"
Nov. 12 pm Those naked pictures don't show how thick White's skin is. For the sake of our county,  'hope it is real thick!
Nov. 12 pm West Virginia was dooped in 2004 by Don Blankenship. His millions had little impact  this time around. Good!
Nov. 12 pm  From Newsweek: President Bush’s job approval rating has fallen to just 31 percent. ... Bill Clinton’s lowest rating during his
presidency was 36 percent; Bush’s father’s was 29 percent, and Ronald Reagan’s was 35 percent. Jimmy Carter’s and Richard Nixon’s
lows were 28 and 23 percent, respectively. (Just 24 approve of outgoing Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s job performance; and
31 percent approve of Vice President Dick Cheney’s.)
Nov. 12 pm Closer to home, the Buffalo Creek and Gauley RR group made another giant step. Last week a working GE Locomotive and
big red metal caboose were set on the BC&G tracks at their Dundon campground. Clayberry a tourism destination place? We're one step
closer.
Nov. 12 pm There's nothing we can do about the meth problem? The Feds proved that wrong. At week's end, Sam Murphy, one the
guys that tried to blow up our Top Badge, was sentenced to 11 years in the pen. During the testimony, word came on telephone
conspirators also in need of prosecution.
Nov. 12 pm Clayberry knows how to pass gossip. Who's rubbing on who has been the subject of many hushed phone calls. Thursday
afternoon one time School Boardster Kim Sams filed for divorce. It ain't gossip if it's true.
Nov. 12 pm Thursday night CAEZ met. Little was said about their financial crunch and behind the scene actions to move $ from one
account to another just to make this week's payroll.
Nov. 12 Thursday night the Health Board made public pay raises for employees.
Nov. 12 pm Thursday night Clay Roane PSD met and handled the same issues they've been dealing with for 10 years. Nothing new just
rehashing the same ole stuff again and again and....
Nov. 12 pm The Communicator did NOT come out Friday. We held it up to include the Thursday night public meeting coverage and
Murph sentencing. Look for the county's source of news and views around 5pm Monday afternoon. Until then, we're busy typing, no new
posts.
Nov. 11 am  Mauddie Mae Triplett, 55, of Maysel, see OBITUARY page
Nov. 11 am This is Veteran's Day. A day to say thanks and day to remember
Nov. 11 am Here's a list of the fallen heroes of Iraq. It's way too long.
Nov. 11 am  87% of the 360,000 polled say it's time to impeach Dubbya. MSNBC didn't ask, but make that 360,001
Nov. 11 am  Hope still lives. Dreams never die.
Nov. 11 am Hello Denise in Englewood. Your Mom says howdy.
Nov. 11 am From the email bag: The Clay County Library will be closed Tuesday November 13 through Thursday November 23, 2006.
We will reopen Friday November 24.  Through the generosity of the Clay County Commission, the library is receiving new carpeting and
we are moving shelves to make room for a computer center.  The  staff and Board of Trustees thank you in advance for your patience in
the short notification of the closure.
Nov. 9 pm We're holding the Communicator up until Monday.
Nov. 9 pm Today was sentencing day in Federal Court for Samuel Todd Murphy. Murphy plead guilty to trying to blow up the Sheriff
and 2 counts of using a  tele to smuggle pot into the jail. For his illegal activities, Sam Murphy received a 11 year sentence plus supervised
release afterwards. No fines were imposed.
Nov. 9 pm  Before sentencing, Sheriff Holcomb made a statement seeking maximum punishment for Murph. Father of the felon, Frank
also spoke. Frank thanked the Prosecutor's office for  the court case mentioning that his son was out of control and under the influence of
meth, that, without the Fed intervention, his son may  have been dead by now.
Nov. 9 pm  Closer to home, our Fall grand jury met and returned 6 true bills.
Nov. 9 pm Indictments include: Thomas Holcomb, Paul Perez, Gary Lee Rollins, Chris Pritt, Jason Padgett, and Tonya Salsbury.
Nov. 9 am  Today begins a new term of court with the Grand Jury convening. Some session net  as many as 35 presentations while
others, last term for instance, resulted in three "true bills"
Nov. 9 am Soon as we know something, will post.
Nov. 9 am  This evening at 4pm the CAEZ meets at 4pm  (economic development committee) followed by the full board at 6pm. Also at
6pm tonight, the Clay County Board of Health meeting in the conference room of the NH Dyer Health Dept. building. And, Clay Roane
PSD meets in the CCC room at the Courthouse. all meetings are open to the public until they get juicy.
Nov. 9 am On the Coach Suite shooting death last week, Sheriff Holcomb commented, the preliminary Medical Examiner's report
indicated cause of death as suicide.
Nov. 9 am Communicator is coming out, email your classifieds, events, obits, news, etc. ASAP.
Nov. 9 am Check back later today for more.
Nov. 8 am County Commission meets this morning at 10 am. See the EVENTS page for details on today's Blood Drive.
Nov. 8 am  Here's the county election results, precinct by precinct.
Nov. 8 am  To see how Don Balankenship's millions affected the outcome of yesterday's General Election, take a look here.
Nov. 8 am As of  1am this morning, incumbent Senator Randy White was ahead of challenger Pete Sigler (R) by 600 votes with three
Fayette County precincts left to count. Even in Sigler's home county of Nicholas, White lost by just 250 votes. With the smear campaign
going full blast and the hush hush campaign working just as hard, White took first place and will continue to serve Clayberry in the W Va
Senate..
Nov. 8 am  In our 29th House of Delegates race, newcomer Margaret Staggers came out on top by a big margin
Nov. 8 am Congresswoman Capito  will be heading back to Congress with challenger Callaghan winning just two counties, Clay and
Braxton.
Nov. 8 am A lot of attention was given the faulty electronic voting machines during  TV coverage of the election.
Nov. 8 am We had big problems here in Clay. The first precincts were reading for counting by 8pm last night. Didn't happen. The little
memory gizmo on the touch screen machines would not download in the scanner. For well over an hour, Clerk Connie Workman was on
the phone with Charleston officials before the glitch could be worked out.
Nov. 8 am  Yes we know, in yesterday afternoon's post we reported the electro machines were not to be used during the election due to
another glitch,  the way it handled challenged ballots. That's all true but the machines still went to each polling place. Since they were at
the polls, the little memory sticks (PEB) had to be counted. Seven other counties were told NOT to use the IvorTronic touch screen
machines.
Nov. 8 am One poll worker told us that a rep from the Sec of State's office stopped by his polling place and told  em, the public should
go ahead and use the faulty machines.
Nov. 8 am Did anyone say light voter turnout.  765 came out to vote Tuesday out of  6424 registered voters. That may be a record, a
sad record!
Nov. 8 am  Now the important stuff....
Nov. 8 am For those keep saying, there will never be a train running up Buffalo Creek, time to eat your words.
Nov. 8 am By 2:30 yesterday, the 84,000 pound GE locomotive was setting on the tracks. Around 5:00 pm, the first of two red caboosi
was on site and connected to the engine.
Nov. 8 am Just before dark, the locomotive was running, sounding its horn and moving down the tracks under its own power.
Nov. 8 am Take a drive out to the JG BRadley Campground at Dundon and see for yourself.
Nov. 7 pm See ADVISORY page for flu vaccine info.
Nov. 7 pm From the HurHerald site: Most of us are unaware in the 1990s that two million human beings died in Afghanistan,
one-and-one-half million died in the Sudan, some 800,000 were butchered in Rwanda, a half-million died in Bosnia, 200,000 died in
Guatemala, 150,000 died in Liberia, a quarter-million died in Burundi and 75,000 died in Algeria.  We're now confronted with the
possibility of 650,000 civilians being killed in Iraq.  During the 20th Century, 62 million civilians died in wars.  It is has been strange times
for those who oppose the Iraq War, un-patriotic, treasonous and non-Christian.
  Nov. 7 pm Pitiful
Nov. 7 pm  80% of America will be using electronic voting machines of one kind of another today. Not so in Clayberry.
Nov. 7 pm According to County Clerk Connie Workman, last Friday her office was  told not to use the new Ivortronic voting machines
due to a glitch with the programming. The glitch centers around provisional (Challenged) ballots.
Nov. 7 pm  The machines will be at the polling places today but only handicapped people will be using them and only if they want to use
them. Handicapped and all others can vote via paper ballots.
Nov. 7 pm 553 Clayonians voted early with a little over 100 using the touch type machines.
Nov. 7 pm Although a light turn out was expected, the rain may further lower voter turnout.
Nov. 7 pm Get out and vote America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nov. 7 am What's important today? Get out and vote.  Vote early and Vote often.  If you don't vote, shut up and go to the back of the
room.  Only one more day of those nasty, lying campaign ads on TV.
Nov. 7 am For our online election junkies...This web site will post as soon as results start coming in. Most likely around 9 pm. Keep in
mind, during the May Primary, all the precincts came in real quick and it was all over by 11 pm.
Nov. 7 am 101.7 FM plans to have a live national election results feed beginning at 7pm. Local results will be broadcast every 30 minutes
or so beginning after 9 pm. To listen online, WYAP's link is on our homepage. Once you make the trip, just click the blinking ON AIR
button and turn up your speakers.
Nov. 7 am For you hardcore clickers....
Nov. 7 am Open up WSAZ TV 3 election coverage with this link.  Then open up the link to the WV Sec of State's site with a quick click
here. Don't forget CNN for a better national look.
Nov. 7 am  When you get tot he various sites just right click for a new window or a new tab.  'should be easy to have all three windows
open. Just refresh every couple of minutes for the latest.
Nov. 6 pm from the email bag:   The Clay County Panthers Intermediate Football "CCPIF" C-Team WON huge Sunday night November
5th, 2006 as the took on the Oak Hill Red Devils in the biggest game of the season known as the SUPER BOWL.  The game was very
intense and one that kept everyone on their feet. It came down to who could pull it off, and once again the Panthers came through with a
WIN of 24 to 20. GREAT job boys and Great job coaches. The C-team Panthers end the season with a perfect record of 10 - 0 and now
hold the title of NRVC C-team SUPER BOWL Champs.
Nov. 6 pm  Unbeknownst to many, Clay Town Council will hold their monthly meeting TONIGHT at 6pm. And no, it was not
mentioned during the Oct gathering.
Nov. 6 pm Election day is Tuesday. As a note: There is little doubt, Robert C is going to win hands down. There is a third candidate that
could use some help. Jesse Johnson from the Mountain Party is also on the ballot. If Johnson can muster enough votes tomorrow, the
Mountain Party will retain ballot privilege. With Byrd a shoe in, how about some help for Johnson.
Nov. 6 pm Wednesday morning at 10 am the County Commission meets.
Nov. 6 pm  Thursday evening is a big day for public meetings. The Health Dept meets in their Main Street building as does Clay Roane
PSD. Also Thursday is the CAEZ  Economic Development Committee at 4pm followed by the full Board at 6pm.
Nov. 6 am  TV-3 sponsored a Capito/Callaghan debate Saturday afternoon. If you missed it and if you have a high speed connection,
click TV-3. Once you make the trip, just click the button and turn your speakers reaaal low so the boss doesn't hear.
Nov. 6 am Tonight at 6pm the School Board meets at the Standard Bryant Annex on Gump Street in Clay. Agenda includes: Bob Morris
to appear before the Board;    Mr. Linkinoggor's presentation regarding Big Otter Elementary School;   Approve the employment of Molly
McCabe as Preschool teacher at Clay Elementary School (Brandi McKinney's former job);   Approve the employment of Carolyn Eason
as Substitute teacher for the  2006 - 2007 school year;   Approve the employment of Andrea Cruickshanks as Bus Driver for Bus #14
(Gary Tanner's former run);  Approve letter form Clay County Bank to be sent to school employees;  Approve the ballot for Faculty
Senate vote.
Discussions:   a.  Letter requesting funding support from others regarding wiring/conduit to complete lighting at the county park  b.  The
Board of Education reply to letter from Larry and Chuck Boggs regarding new school.   c.  Personnel Matter
Nov. 5 pm Lies and spin on lies. More so than ever, this past week has been one of absolute distortion. Ads on top of ads and everyone
of em full of false statements.
Nov. 5pm  Many agree, only the White House thinks the Oil War policy is working. Dysfunctional comes to mind. Even the Army and
Navy Times magazine have come out with,  It's time for Rummy to resign. It ain't working.
Nov. 5 pm Unfortunately, it's hard to tell a Demorat from a Republicrat. They've all migrated to the center to get elected. Come
Wednesday we may have new faces but little else. We can always hope...
Nov. 5 pm If the Demos take control, wouldn't it be nice to see Congressional hearings including the "I" word, impeachment.
Nov. 5 pm The Repubs keep telling us how great the economy is doing, the unemployment rate is at an all time low. In West Virginia, in
Clayberry, it's hard to see those improvements.
Nov. 5 pm Just two days before the election even Sadamn played into the race. Having NOTHING to do with 9/11, W was able to
influence the time table and get a verdict just before Nov. 7th.  How convenient.
Nov. 5 pm  The messy war continued. Oct. ended with 104 good Americans dead. Just a few days into Nov. and the death count
continues.  There have been 3,068 coalition deaths, 2,829 Americans, two Australians, 120 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, six Danes, two Dutch,
two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 32 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 17 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, three Slovaks,
11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of November 3, 2006, according to a CNN count.
Nov. 5 pm  Closer to home, Mike Callaghan came to town for an interview on WYAP. Campaign signs went up just to be torn down
again and again ...   It's always interesting to watch which person is supporting which candidate. In that little itty bitty paper (we're told
they are still in business) over in Clay, their editorial  blasted Senator White while taking his campaign ad dollars. In that same Demorat
paper, the local Demorat Committee paid for a full page ad supporting their candidates. Unfortunately for their side, they left out Senator
White. That "oversight" came after the group met Oct. 16th and decided they would support the entire Demorat ticket. Is it any wonder
we suck the hind tit when it comes to state funding on Clay?
Nov. 5 pm  In the form of campaign junk mail the US Post Office went into overtime mode. Pretty but with little substance and less
truth.
Nov. 5 pm   Still the election is important. How important? In Clayberry, over 500 voters cast their ballots during early voting at the
Courthouse.
Nov. 5 pm  We've  seen it for weeks, store shelves bare, coolers shut down, and employees laid off. By Saturday Fas Chek of Clay was
without bacon and sausage, a main stay in the county of little. The sign went up, 25% off everything in the store. Store owner Robin
Sizemore was asked Saturday afternoon: Are you closing down?  No answer came.   Maybe one isn't needed.
Nov. 5 pm  High school kids are thugs. That music they listen to is devil music. Look at those clothes!!!!!!! How awful. Their butts are
hanging out!
Nov. 5 pm This week parents filled in for their kids on Wednesday at Clay High. For many of us, it was the first time back in a high
school for 20, 30, or more years. Yes the music, dress, and faces have changed but little else. The sleepy eyed big lugs in the back still try
to hold their heads up with one hand. The pretty little girls up front still apply make up when the Teach has his back turned. And in the
back there was still the guy without a pencil and whispering. When given a pencil, a few minutes later, the teacher asks, "Why aren't you
writing?" His response, " It needs sharpened!" With the Teach's blood pressure rising, the big guy  further disturbs the class with each
whirl of the electric pencil sharpener. Kids giggled.
Nov. 5 pm Nothing has changed in high school land.
Nov. 5 pm After a secret time, the BDA tried to reinvent itself with an oral vote of confidence for Chair Leonard Williams. The man up
front said he would continue his volunteer post but everyone had to work together. It's about time!
Nov. 5 pm  Saturday a group of parents trying to raise $100,000 for a Skate Park  held a fund raiser at Clay County Park in Maysel. A
Skate PArk in Clay? How stupid!!! Nobody will come to that!!!
Nov. 5 pm WRONG!  The Knotts building at the park was full of pimple faced kids trying their luck at ramps, jumps, and slides on a
metal pipe. Concessions were sold and the bonfire was well attended. They didn't raise $100,000 Saturday, but the Skate Park Committee
came together and showed there is an interest for such a facility. Here's the best part. In addition to local kids present, many many tenny
boppers came from other counties. That's out of town dollars coming into Clayberry! Wonderful!
Nov. 5 pm The naysayers still say there will NEVER be an excursion train in the county. Those same people can add a skate park to
their feeble thinking.
Nov. 5 pm With the new month upon us, so comes the rash of public meetings!
Nov. 5 pm Tuesday night community radio  WYAP will be airing a live, in real time, feed on national election returns beginning at 7pm.
Throughout the night, local results will be inserted beginning around 9pm.
Nov. 5 pm This web site will provide election results for county races as soon as tallies come in , most likely beginning around 9 pm.
With electronic voting machines employed this time around, those results could be delayed, no promises on that 9pm thang.
Nov. 4 am Today is the last day to early vote in the County Clerk's office. VOTE VOTE VOTE
Nov. 4 am WSAZ TV3 is hosting a live debate beginning today at high noon. With their race very close, 2nd District Congresswoman
Capito and Demorat challenger Callaghan should be the star attraction.
Nov. 4 am Don't forget the Skateboard and music fun out at Clay County Park beginning at 4pm. Admission is free!. Parents have to
sign a waiver for litttle rug rats to get out on the indoor course.
Nov. 4 am Just got this in the email bag:  Dear Friends and Relatives:    I have the distinguished honor of being on the committee to raise
$5,000,000  for a monument of George W. Bush. We originally wanted to put him on Mt. Rushmore until we discovered there was not
enough room for two more faces. We then decided to erect a statue of George in the Washington, D.C. Hall of Fame.  We were in a
quandary as to where the statue should be placed. It was not proper to place it beside the statue of George Washington, who never told a
lie, or beside Richard Nixon, who never told the truth, since George W. could never tell the difference. We finally decided to place it
beside Christopher Columbus, the greatest Republican of them all. He left not knowing where he was going, and when he got there he did
not know where he was. He returned not knowing where he had  been, and did it all on someone else's money.   Thank you,  George W.
Bush Monument Committee  P. S. The Committee has raised $1.35 so far.
Nov. 3 am Emmett Arthur Miller, 76,  see OBITUARY page
Nov. 3 am  Romey Nottingham, 64, of Indore, WV, see OBITUARY page
Nov. 3 am Sunshine galore and it's Friday.
Nov. 3 am What happened to Taco Mel's ?  A block sewer line put the brakes on the new eatery Wednesday. Workers installed a new
thru the wall plumbing set up Thursday.  It's back open now.
Nov. 3 am  Whether it was streaking around the county in the buff or his many other off the wall actions, Randy Schoonover has been
our unofficial nut for years.  He's now certified.
Nov. 3 am.  Back in the Spring Schoony was indicted for selling Rx drugs to under cover narcs. A pretrial mental competency hearing
was ordered.
Nov. 3 am Yesterday our one time Senator was to stand trial. He came to the Courthouse on a cane and hobbled up lookin.  That pre
trial report came back reading incompetent. The Special judge ordered Schoony to Sharp's Mental Hospital for another evaluation.
Schoony is looking at a 6 month stay.
Nov. 3 am Nut house or pen, which would you take clicker? Schoony sly like a fox.  A much more complete write up from the Register
Herald is on our Advisory page.
Nov. 3 am Thursday night's once a month meeting of the volunteer staffed Business Development Authority (BDA)  meeting is worth
noting ....  With a majority of its members present, and after a secret time, the members decided to keep Leonard Williams as
Chairperson. Commenting afterwards, Williams said he would stay but the group had to come together and work together. How refreshing.
Nov. 3 am Last month we reported the group imploded after a thorny Oct. public meeting.  Two months earlier, the BDA  had another
one of those juicy meetings. A couple months before that, back in the Spring, ditto, another barn burning butt chewing affair. The pattern
has been to have an embarrassing meeting followed by  a patching it up session.
Nov. 3 am  After sitting thru many, most, of the meetings, we have the solution. Instead of convening once a month, our lead economic
development agency should meet every other month! Problem solved.
Nov. 3 am Present during last night's meeting was a first time visitor,  a tall mid 50ish guy from Texas. His background is oil, gas and
coal development. During the meeting he leaned forward and said, "that lady is on to something." He was referring to Fran King who had
just ran thru a list of projects she wanted to get started.
Nov. 3 am Sure glad he wasn't there for the Oct. BDA meeting!
Nov. 3 am  Check out our EVENTS page for a cool skateboarding, music, bonfire fun fest out at Clay County Park Saturday afternoon.
Fun Fun Fun.
Nov. 3 am Don't forget, you can early vote Saturday at the Courthouse until 5pm. That's the last day for early voting. Vote! Your right,
your duty!
Nov. 2 am  Daniel Gregory Suite, 32, of Valley Fork, see OBITUARY page
Nov. 2 am  Larry Kenneth McGlothlin, 62, of Bickmore,
Nov. 2 am  have you voted? It's time. Early voting in progress in the County Clerk's office. Vote, your right, your duty
Nov. 2 am Today at 5 pm in the County Commission room our Business Development Authority meets. On the agenda is the resignation
of Leonard "My good Buddy" William's resigning as Chair.  Last month's meeting was an explosive affair with the group at odds over
whether to reform as a stand alone agency for economic development. Head butting with other agencies was also mentioned last month.
Nov. 2 am Never know what to expect at a BDA meeting. Come out and see what makes Clayberry public meetings so special. Bring
your own popcorn
Nov. 2 am The Communicator has served the county of Clay for over 11 years with cutting  edge news and views second to none. For
those wanting first hand info on what's going on in this county, there's only one source, The Communicator.
Nov. 2 am  There is also a little newspaper over in Clay that serves more as an advertising rag than anything else. None the less, it calls
itself a newspaper.
Nov. 2 am   In their latest edition the editorial guy gives Senator Randy White double H and encourages voters not to vote to for the guy
that has  faithfully served Clay County for several years. Instead of Senator White, that little rag, the Demorat rag, would rather have a
coal operator  representing our 10,300 residents.
Nov. 2 am In that same edition where that little rag says they want White out of office, they saw fit to take White's advertising $.
Nov. 2 am Newspapers can refuse advertisers, even campaign advertising for many reasons and without a reason. For instance, a few
years back, David Walker (D) ran for the House of Delegates and was refused advertising space in that little Demorat rag.
Nov. 2 am  The naked truth is, taking White's money and then bad mouthing him sure shows the character of that bunch!
  Nova 2 am Pitiful!
Nov. 1 am  Halloween treaters were out last night. Few tricksters were heard on the scanner.
Nov. 1 am That wasn't the case Monday night when ambulances and Badges were called to Ovapa Cut Off Road. Radio traffic began
around 8:45 pm. By 9pm Monday night HealthNet was called for transport one shooting victim, Danny Suite.
Nov. 1 am Around 10:30pm, Mr Suite died.
Nov. 1 am Those close the scene said that Suite received one 40 caliber gunshot wound to the temple while outside his home.
Nov. 1 am Rumors were running left and right all Tuesday.    Badges were seen back at the residence Tuesday apppearing to be looking
for something, maybe a slug or casing, just a guess clickers.
Nov. 1 am Late Tuesday afternoon Top Badge Randy Holcomb would only say that the investigation was continuing. He would not
confirm if the incident was a suicide or anything else. He did say he was waiting for the Medical Examiners report.
Nov. 1 am  Suite, Coach Suite to many, husband, Dad to two, one heck of great builder, all around nice guy.... what went wrong.
  Nov. 1 am
