James
Patrick Summer (DOB 8-2-45) got the attention of law enforcement on Jan
1 2020. He is now charged with Grand Larceny. Black Shirt Ryan Thomas did
the investigation and filed the Criminal Complaint on Mr Summers.
From
the report on file and edited somewhere, here goes with the info
A Mathew
Salisbury (from Clay) stated that he passed by the residence of James Summers
and noticed a backhoe sitting in that yard. Salisbury informed the Sheriff's
office of the theft.
Black Shirt
Thomas headed over to Summers' place and yelp, there's the just mentioned
backhoe parked on a job site in Granny's Creek. Mr Salisbury provided
the BAdge with a bill of sale for the equipment which included a VIN number.
A quick check
by Thomas, the ID number matched the Bill of Sale.
Sure sounds
like James Patrick Summers may be in deep stuff.
As a note,
back during the Murder Mountain years, often a stolen piece would be brought
into the county and local yocals would buy up the equipment. It didn't
take long for the buyer to be relieved of the new purchase by Law Enforcement.
Reason: You can't sell something you don't own and you can't buy something
the seller doesn't own.
Not sure if that
has any bearing on this case but there you have it.
Note: no
mug shot on file.
