On November 11, 2019 the BDA grouped
together to discuss FEMA updates, a change in plan for the hiking trail,
and more!
First item to discuss was
the finances. They are back over $1k thanks to Dustin selling over 600
raffle tickets. They started out the last month with $869.99, and $374
disappearing for utilities. Not a permanent money fix, but will be good
temporarily.
Buffalo Creek Trail has new signs,
and new picnic tables. The signs were stolen last year, hopefully these
ones will not see the same fate. The tables will likely be placed at Adair
because the riders love eating lunch in the area.
Now we have the updates for the
big state park coming through. Their original plan was to cover up all
those cruddy old railroad ties. They have came to the light, and seen that
was a huge mistake. It was way to costly to cover up such a hazard, so
now, they are ripping them up. The old rotted ties will go to the dump,
while all the usable ties will be laced along the side for anyone to grab.
If you live within 10 miles, and want over 60 ties, they will deliver them
to you.
FEMA has all their paperwork finished,
and approved. Now to legislature to get the funds, and, according to chair
Mitch DeBoard, they will have the funds by the end of November 2019. They
will be working during the winter as long as the weather is fit for it.
Dustin reported there were many
unhappy citizens with no haunted trail rides this year. He informed them
there was no man power or funds this year, but they will have one next
year. He requested $75 per month from the board to be set aside once they
open up next year for the cost of the props. They all agreed it would be
a great idea. The Apple Festival Committee is interested in helping out
next year as well, and will split the profit with them.
December 9th will be their Christmas
dinner this year. Mitch reported that the garage is nearly done thanks
to the help of the inmates. All that is left is the arch, and the back
of the building.
That was a short meeting only lasting
half an hour. The next meeting will be held on December 9, 2019 at 6:30pm.
If you would like to hear first hand what is going on in your town, attend
a meeting.

Here's a shot of the new DNR provided, trail
signs. They are made out of a plastic material so metal recyclers won't
