Like to tell
some outlandish eye catching find from the last County Commission meeting
held at the Courthouse. Ain't going to happen this time around. The meeting
was short and without controversy. Here's the best we could do
All three
Commissioners were ready for action with 8 folks perched in the peanut
gallery.
Erroneous
assessments were approved for Robert and Debra Grose, Jason Smith, and
Emil Morton. That means their tax bills were off and now are properly corrected.
Rebecca Neff
was appointed Administratrix for the Irene Taylor estate
Fred Sampson's
last will and testament was approved with Tammy Carter appointed as administrator
Wanda L Hamrick's
last will and testament was confirmed . Janine Postasnik was appointed
as executrix
Woodie Arnold's
last will was also confirmed. Rebekah Sue Morris Holcomb was appointed
executrix
We'll type
this one just as it appeared on the meeting agenda. Reason? We haven't
a clue what it means.
Here
goes: move to approve a report and notice of County Clerk on Order to Show
Cause against delinquent or unprogressed estate - no good cause shown.
Notice will be published on Dec 15 2019 and hearing will be held on Jan
8, 2020 at 11am.
Deliciously
Vivid has a new project. This time around, they plan on placing a Christmas
tree out on Courthouse Square to be used, maybe decorated, during their
Seasonal fun day. See EvENTS page for details.
County Commissioners
voted unanimously to include 911 Dispatchers in the classification of "First
Responders"
Out behind
the 911 Center, there's a need for night lights. 911 Director Becky Pritt
wanted new lighting for safety reasons. According to the lady in charge,
males have been seen behind the building late at night with one of em carrying
a pipe! Questions came on which would be better, new lights on a pole or
attached to the brick facade. No decision made. Look for that decision
on Nov. 22nd
CCC
Prez Fitzwater brought everybody some good news. There's been a change
of attitude on leaving nasty, rotting, broken, railroad ties in place on
the planned ERTS State Park hiking trail. Now, according to Fitz, the ties
will be removed, broken ties will be taken to a dump, and the balance of
the ties will be given to whomever comes and gets em. Commissioner King
reported, big piles of ties are already piled up near Ivydale.
CAEZ
Rep Gary Stuber aske d the CCC for a letter of support seeking new pavement
going out to the Dundon Sports Arena and the CAEZ Campground. Not problem
with that request, The road is bumpy as H right now
As
for the CAEZ Director resigning 6 weeks ago..... the job opening has not
been advertised and he had nothing new on Big Lup's resignation nor whether
she was actually leaving her part time perch ad Director.
Commissioner
Kinder said she was present when Lup read her resignation letter to the
CAEZ Board of Directors.
Our 911 account
is a cash cow with around a million bucks on hand. With aging equipment
breaking down or never working properly, it's time to do upgrades and replacements.
County Commission will open bids on the gear, Nov. 18th at the Courthouse.
Next regular
Commission comes Nov. 27th beginning at 10am sharp.
Members of the Clay County Broadband Committee
after the County Commission gathering
Never hear much about a long running Broadband
Development Committee. Turns out, right after the CCC meeting, the Broadbanders
held their meeting.
The meeting started out with the usual
foot dragging blah blah blah. Who's going to do this or that, blah blah
some more
Then a feller from Roane County, Bill
Grose, stepped up to the plate and encouraged the assembled to get off
their duffs, get to work, and don't wait around for anything. Grose made
it clear, it's time to get busy and get stuff done.
Stuff: get your first projects agreed
upon and find "Middle mile" providers that are willing to come into Clayberry.
Those middle mile providers.. several were mentioned and none of the names
were Frontier Tele! It was refreshing.
Grose continued with: don't wait around
til the next meeting, get stuff done and bring the results to the next
meeting. Grose, "Come to the meeting prepared."
Here's what they are working on.
There is a pot of Fed $$$ at the ready to replace, improve, internet in
County Clay.
With a preliminary study completed,
it's time to pick some neighborhood that needs DSL service and get things
started.
Cheerleader Grose seemed to get
the local committee's attention.
Instead of holding their next
meeting in Feb., with a little pep in their step, the next meeting will
be held Jan 15th at 10am at the Courthouse.
Hey , you got crappy DSL or no DSL? It
might be time to contact a member of the Broadband Committee and say, Hey,
how about us!!!!!
