ANCHOR STORE NEEDED
Look at that ad just above. Doesn't it look like one from
80 years ago? It's not.
That's an ad just placed in one of the national outdoor
sports magazines. That
store and nine others under the Mast Store banner are
thriving establishments
down South. The attraction is one, they have a bunch of
great attention getting
inventory and second, it looks quaint. Other examples of
quaint with good stuff
could be Hardman's Hardware Stores or the Cracker Barrell
chain.
For us to compete in the tourism sphere, we have to have
such an anchor store
for downtown Clay, a draw. There's no reason to start from
scratch when we have
a base to build on. We're talking about the Farm Store
which is situated close to
the new ERTS State Park.
With a colorful cloth awning out front to catch attention
and for the first 10 feet
inside the front door, stuff women would be interested in,
Poof, all of a sudden,
we have a start.
New York city slickers on $2500 bikes or wearing $400
hiking boots, they want
quaint. When they see such a place, they open their
wallets and better yet, after
a good experience, they tell their buddies. That's a great
big KaChing!
We don't think the Farm Store would be opposed to a
few more hundred dollar
bills coming their way.
Come June 1 2020, we have to be ready for the new tourism
economy. A quaint
looking Farm Store would be a great anchor store around
which a coffee shop,
sandwich hut, bike repair shop, trinket outlet, could get
established. AW
