Oct 26 2019 MAKER EXPO SUCCESS

Since the Great Wash Out in 2016, the locally grown Farmer's Market has been all but non existent. Something changed mid Summer 2019 when Betsy Keiffer took the reigns and came up with some new ideas. With large farms capable of supplying more than one family's needs in short supply, Keiffer expanded the Saturday morning market space to crafters, food products, quilters, wood workers and more. With a new vendor source available from around the region, things started to grow. The new line up was included in the title, Farmer's Market and Makers Expo.

The final Makers Expo for the season was held Saturday morning Oct 26th on Courthouse Square. More vendors were on hand for this sale fest than ever before. Foot traffic increased on the 26th in part due to another event, the Clay Spooktakler, also in progress. Despite the rain, on the 26th, downtown Clay was packed.

Ms Keiffer had help growing the Maker Expo notion. Remember William Miller? That's a young guy that use to work at the Clay Library. Back then as is the case now, William is energetic and good minded. It was Mr Miller that circled together a bunch of his crafter buddies from around the region and got them to come to Clayberry for the once a month offerings. Not sure how Keiffer / Miller got it together but it worked in 2019.

It's not often we say, something good is happening in Clay. We're saying it now and hope the Saturday morning offering resumes in the Summer of 2020 and grows even more.
