Honoring God

Ps 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. You may perceive that verse of Scripture as an invitation, a command or simply a bit of wisdom.  However you perceive it it is beneficial and rewarding.

To acknowledge that God is almighty or that He is the giver of life or that His ways are higher than our ways is certainly praise.  Is that all there is?  No!  We can honor God with our lips or out of our intellect but God seeks those who will honor Him out of a relationship that comes from deep within our heart or spirit.  God wants us to honor Him, not just because it is a good thing or that it is in the Bible but because we know Him and we love Him.

God is a Spirit.  If you have been born again then your spirit has been born again and you have become His child.  From that position in Him He wants you to worship Him.  Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  That happens when we have knowledge of who He is and out of that knowledge has come a relationship.  As we hunger for Him and seek Him we will come to the place of fellowship with Him.  That requires knowledge of what His Word declares and we have come to identify who we are in Him.

Remember, you are a spirit, have a soul and live in a body.  If you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior then your spirit is dead and you live by the world’s standards.  You can still praise God but you cannot, in your spirit, worship Him and please Him.  God looks upon the heart, not just the lips.  No wonder the Word declares that His ways are higher than our ways.  True worship is a spiritual thing and produces wonderful blessings, peace and joy.
