Over the years we have received thousands
of emails. Some are just bad mouthing affairs or snitching stuff. Every
once in a while we get a tear jerker. That's what we have below.
Ideintifying marks have been removed. One that really tugs at your heart.
If even a tiny part of it is true, it's a damn shame!
Not sure what to do or who to turn
to but, if you have a suggestion, we are all ears. AW
To anyone that can help:
I know of
children that are in desperate need of help. When a child finally speaks
up to someone they trust, about their conditions at home, they expect to
get the help they need and deserve. Well, on September x this did not happen.
The state of WV and Kanawha County Child Protective Services failed x children.
I was an outcry witness to
an x year old family member on September x 2019 at my home in Bomont WV.
X disclosed things to me no x year old should have to go through or witness.
Here is the list of allegations:
Statutory rape of her oldest sister
by the father figure in the home. Mother knows and blames x.
Sexual Assault to her and her sisters
by her brothers. Mother knows and states “You girls know better than to
get around them. Boys will be boys.”
Talks like the father figure in
the home is sexually grooming her and her sisters.
Sexual assault to herself and sister
by a family member she would not disclose unless “she got taken and never
had to go back’. She said she did tell “Mom” but her and her sister got
yelled at and made to go back to said family member.
Drugs in the home. Talked about a “big
jar of weed in the bedroom and white powder stuff they put in their nose
in the building.” Weed is allowed to be smoked in the home but other drugs
are done outside in the building. Playing in the white powder.
Stated that her and her brother found a mirror with white powder
on it. They played in it for a while before taking it to “Mom”. No medical
attention was given. They were in trouble.
Witnesses drug deals in the home.
“Men give Dad lots of money and he gives them the white powder.”
Talks about “tweakers” being in
the home at all hours. Says sometimes its hard for her to sleep because
they are loud.
Disclosed the extreme mental abuse
to her autistic brother. States that when he is having a meltdown “Mom
locks him in the bathroom with no lightbulbs until he shuts up.” Also says
the other kids in the home are allowed to torture him with noise
and touch. Her words. “Someone needs to help him they torture that poor
boy.”
The older girls in the home are
made to care for the younger. This includes feeding, bathing, and punishing.
This is way more than normal chores. The x year old also has to bathe and
wipe the x year old autistic boy.
Talks about how if they stay at
school all day (afterschool program) they are not allowed to eat anything
at home. Locks on fridge, snacks locked up.
They are only allowed 1-2 showers
a week. One on the Sunday before school and one the Friday after.
Horrible sleeping arrangements.
The oldest girls do get their own beds. However, the younger girls
all share one bunk bed. The boys are made to sleep on the living room floor.
Talks about how much she hates home and
wishes school lasted forever or someone good would adopt her. Also talks
about how she has plans to run away if no one helps. NO “normal” xx year
old says things like this!
All the children are threatened
on a regular basis to never talk about what happens at home to anyone,
especially people at school. They are told if they do they will go to a
foster care home, get tied up, and raped every day.
When they do bravely speak up they
are grounded from everything at home. Sometimes even things like lightbulbs
and food.
When a new CPS case is opened on
them the mother pulls them from school and moves.
Now, with all that you have just
read I can imagine you are just upset about the situation as I am. NO child
in our state or anywhere should have to deal with these things. So, I took
it upon myself to fight for these kids.
That night I called police, police
called CPS and CPS called me. They were ready to come and speak with her
that night, UNTIL I stated there were x other kids. We waited till
the next day. This brave girl spoke up again to the two Kanawha county
DHHR workers.
They then went to the home of the
children. While x and I waited at my home she was so excited she was finally
being heard and was finally going to receive the help she so desperately
wanted. That is until the worker called back and said they couldn’t do
anything and I had to take her back home.
This family has a long history of
violence, abuse, drug use and many CPS referrals.
The worker stated, since they did
not see drugs out and house was clean, none of the other children talked
and Dad was not home (he’s not allowed to be around kids), there was nothing
they could do.
The workers did not do a good job
at interviewing the children. They made no attempt to make friends or connections
with the kids and went straight into talking about sex and rape even with
the x year olds.
So, obviously, after they were threatened
by the mother and then a stranger comes in and starts talking about sex,
they did not talk. They did open an investigation but that day I had to
take a little girl home to a place where her abusers know it was her that
spoke up. She was grounded. The other children were made to be mean to
her. And they have not been in school for over a week now “Mom” is homeschooling.
That day we all failed x kids.
As a family member that knows the history of this family I know her story
to be true and I will fight till her and all of her siblings get into a
loving, warm, caring home that they deserve. For I fear if they do not,
they will never have a fighting chance at life.
All of her allegations meet the
WV code chapter 49 definition of child abuse and neglect. A few of her
allegations even meet the definition of “imminent danger” as in chapter
49-1-201 and warranted an immediate removal. With this home being a kinship
care home they could have removed these children with her word alone as
stated in chapter 49-2-14/49-4-111. But they did not, they did nothing.
No one wants to take a case with
x kids. So workers continue to fail these kids by sweeping allegations
under the rug and not taking a childs outcry seriously.
Many people know about this
case, I have made sure of it. We will not stop till these children get
out! What will it take, for someone with the power to help,
to finally step in?
