We
started hearing rumors a couple weeks back, something
about the diner being forced out of their rental property.
Putting together a couple good sources... here's
what we think as of right now.
CSCS operates the Senior Nutritional Site over in
Two Run. CSCS operates the business but the building is
owned by the Clay County Commission (CCC). Over the years,
the CCC has had to cough up equipment and maintenance to
keep the Senior Nutritional Center open.
Starting to get confusing? Too many letter
organizations to keep track of? Read on please
Know where we're talking about? The Hub rented
space in the up river corner of the CSCS operation. That's
the space that sat empty and covered with dust for years.
At one point, CSCS tried to set up a fitness center there
for seniors. Didn't work and didn't last but a few weeks
at the most. Much of the gym equipment was sat out on the
sidewalk and given away. Again the space was empty and
covered with dust.
Before The Hub opened for business, they gutted the
space and gave it a face lift inside. Additionally, the
diner provided jobs, something that is in short supply in
Clayberry.
A week or more ago, it came to light, that
nutritional site is suppose to be housed in the same
building as CSCS. When the the crapola hit the fan, and
very short window was issued to correct the problem,
something had to give. What gave was the space rented to
The Hub, which is the only restaurant in downtown Clay.
The Hub has until the end of Feb to skedaddle.
Our guess is, CSCS will set up Nutritional site in
the space currently occupied by The Hub. Does that seem
odd to anybody else? The Hub is situmadated in the up
river side of the CSCS building. On the low river side is
kitchen and dining area all sat up and empty. Remember?
Not so long ago, CDC (now CSCS) opened a soup kitchen in
that bay followed by a sandwich shop. Today the space sets
empty for the most part.
We think there is some truth to these etchings
because the topic is on the Wed Jan 27th County Commission
meeting.
Not sure where The Hub can relocate to. It's
tough enough opening and keeping a business up and running
in County Clay. Tearing it apart and relocating is double
trouble for the bottom line of any business.
Hope to find out more during Wed's CCC meeting, Jan
27th. Might be a good time to come attend a public meeting
especially if you're one of those seniors that used the
old Nutrition Site in Two Run
