Angela Nichols
Nichols is
moving to CCHS from Clay Middle School.
This meeting was held on the 24th, just four days
before their much desired Excess Levy election, a time
when the Pentagon wanted everything to run smooth and
without controversy.
One other note. Dave Mullins isn't the brightest
bulb in the pack.
Second note. Mullins stays so peed off at the
reporter, he demands the guy request to get on a public
meeting agenda before even sneezing.
Now for the main event.
With the agenda items covered in short order,
it was time for the reporter to ask: During all this non
traditional school time of virtual online classes, do you
know how many students are actually participating?
The question was asked of Joe Paxton.
Quickly, Mullins responded, I thought I had
made this clear, We don't make answers!!!!
Readers, what he was saying was, they are mute on
anything brought to a public meeting from parents, grand
parents, tax payers, supporters and anybody else for that
matter.
Mullins face was all red and blue but the biggy was
Joe Paxton, about.0225 more intelligent than the Board
Chair, he instantly knew trouble was here and at the
world's worst time. Paxton told his Board, I can tell the
Board if you want.
Make note please, the School Superintendent
is the only person actually hired by the Board. They are
the only ones that can actually fire a Superintendent.
With that in mind, Paxton applies plenty of suction to
Mullins at every corner of the road. If Mullins ever stops
too quick, Paxton would have a broken nose in short order.
Being that .0225 smarter, Paxton knew
he had to get something out to the public.
He started in with his usual bunch of words but
provide little to the reporter's easy question. His words
were glowing imprimaturs of how wonderful the educational
system is doing in County Clay.
Somewhere in his sugar coated diatribe was
mention, teachers do know how many students are actually
participating.
Boardster Sue Bodkins asked about attendance if DSL
isn't working or non existent. His sugar coating continued
until Bodkins asked, Are kids using it?
Paxton did not answer.
Bodkins asked about grants and getting the small
schools to provide equal services like wellness centers,
counselors, and therapists. Paxton: Blah blah blah
Back to the part about are kids actually
doing the online classes.... While doing some web
searching, the Ace Cub Reporter came across some study
that showed, in rural areas, the participation rate was
around 18% on average. With that 18% being
dismal, we think Paxton's big cover up may be even worser.
Because internet services are so spotty, because
parents/guardians don't give a rate's patutty about their
wards' education, local hot spots are practically non
existent, and there are few incentives to get the kids
online, we think the Clayberry participation rate in
virtual classes is less than half of the 18%.
With no one in office willing to make that info
public and Paxton unwilling to tell his bosses how bad
things really are, if that info gets out it would be
terrible for the powers that be.
Your tax dollars at work! Got ta love em!
