Health
Dept Woes
Nov 2 2020

Past Director Angela Brown

Brand new Health Dept Director, Phillena Frame
About all the
Clayberry Health Dept Board meetings are at best, ho hum. Very
little is made public in the way of interesting stuff planned
or going on. Actually, 99% of the time, it feels like the Govt
agency does little in the way of important stuff.
On Nov 2, 2020, the full Health Board convened.
One Boardster, Amanda Shelton, participated via the phone. Our
guess, she was still in quarantine after catching Corony
compliments a dumber than a box of rocks, Trick or Treat
party. County Medical Officer Lella Patel was also present.
Since the last quarterly meeting, the Health Dept hired a new
Director. See Ms Frame's pic just above. Phiilena Frame comes
with 20 years experience at DHHR.
What was eye opening this time around, the workers let
the public in on how rotten it really is during this pandemic.
Angela Brown told her Board some months ago that
she was bailing out of her top position because she was just
wore down, pooped out, after months of handling the COVID 19
issue. Ms Brown attended this meeting during the transition
period for Ms Frame.
So... how many extra $$$ is the Health Dept raking in
for doing upwards of a 1000 bug tests? The answer is Zero.
From March thru Sept there has been nor will there be ANY
reimbursement for the testing at the Health Dept. There is a
glimmer of hope that tests performed in the month of Oct may
be paid for.
Looking for a job? The Health Dept has Govt funding in
place to hire a Corona nurse. Funding includes $$$ for up to
$65K for salary. The Govt programming is in good shape thru
Jan 30th 2022. Interested? Call the Health Dept.
As for the pressures associated with the pandemic,
Angela told her Board stuff like: it's hectic, it's exhausting
trying to follow ever changing guidelines, and "It's all
political".
Brown also spoke on the number of personal attacks made
on her on the Russian meddling site, Facebook.
Sounding pretty disgusted with the procedures:
People are tested to death...They won't come out to be tested...
It's frustrating.
Doing more than just complain, Ms Brown suggested
testing be done like it is in Colorado, "It's not a wise
use of $$$". It's not fair but we have to do it.
The Health Dept offers testing that takes several
days to get the results. According to Brown, people only want
the rapid tests.
Here's something you might not have known, if you get
tested in some stand alone urgent care facility, all those
test results are sent to the local county of residence for
posting / reporting. That's additional work for the Clay Dept.
And something even more skeery, the return of the
sexual transmitted disease, Syphilis. In this county, the
number of cases of Syphilis, they are on the rise big time.
Next time you're ready to bury the salami, you better be
wearing a top hat!!
For now, the Clay Health Dept remains locked down to
the public.
Let's get back to those candid remarks from
Brown:.. we're seeing the worst of humanity... there is
a lack of humanity now... It's terrible .. Lives have
changed.... There are few compassionate people [left]....
The color maps keep changing...
Boardster Beth Hubbard added, peoples' patience
has worn thin... politics plays into it ... It is very different
now....
In closing, the big holiday seasons are coming our way.
What to do when family members from across the country come
home for the big meal or for Christmas?
The answer was, if you feel uncomfortable, tell em to
stay away. Darn good advice and timely.
The next Health Bd meeting is slated for Feb 1st.
