What We Didn't Get To
Dec 31 2020

Not sure what happened to the Ace Cub Reporter  during the last four weeks of 2020 but he's calling it, writer's block. Now after several weeks of screwing off, he's trying to get caught up with 2020 before starting the new year.
  So with that being said....
Our Grand Jury findings article (from Nov 2020) has been updated to include all the results. Walk over to that article on this COMMUNICATOR ONLINE section and check back to Nov 23rd.
After the findings are announced and usually a week later, all the bad folks come before the Judge, this time Ric Facemire, and proclaim, Not me buddy, I'm not guilty. We could not set thru the entire morning's activities but did manage to witness this stuff.
A skinny James Neal Jr stood before the Judge wearing a camo shirt stating he ain't guilty of the felony charges. As with each accused, Neal did something different. When asked if he could pass a drug whizz test, Mr Neal said he had smoked pot  five days earlier. Note: 99.9% of the time, those in Court say, heck no, I don't use those nasty ole drugs.
Neal was allowed to stay out of the slammer on a $5K bond. Trial date set for Dec 8
Sporting a mustache and goatee, Joseph Moore was represented by attorney Betty Gregory. The tall and strong looking Moore plead not guilty after providing, he hadn't done any drugs. Trial date Dec 8th
Everything was continued on Bradley Stone. A summons was issued.
Raymond Brown is a nice looking 49 year old male. His soft spoken words and good eye contact, he seems like the good neighbor next door. Looks can be deceiving. Mr Brown plead not guilty to sexual abuse by a parent or guardian x 12. Trial date set for Dec 8th at 9am.
Hey. Doesn't it sound like Dec 8th is already over loaded with too many trials? Here's the deal. Over 90% of those charged with a crime plead guilty and never go to a full blown trial. We think that's what Judge Facemire is counting on this term of Court.
Gary Moore has to wait a while to make his plea. Facemire said Judge Alsop will handle this one due to a conflict of interest.
The prize of this term of Court was the indictments on Christian Nova Elliot who is, has been, very active in community events and the operation of the Lizemore Fire Dept / Ambulance Service. She's the model citizen, a volunteer extraordinaire.
Ms Elliot stands indicted on forgery, embezzlement, falsifying , computer fraud and fraudulent schemes, all related to her handling the books at Lizemore Fire Dept.
Dressed in her Sunday best black outfit with a leopard print face mask, Elliot told the Court, not guilty, no way. As of local girl and being no flight risk, Elliot remains out on bond until her Dec 8 trial date.
Due to Corona, the jail is not transporting inmates for court dates. Such was the case for Sherry McGlothlin and Eden Taylor both housed at CRJ. For this hearing, the proceedings were held on the Judge's laptop puter and not the big wide screen conferencing screen. On the itty bitty puter, it was very hard to hear that end of the conversation. With that being said we think both plead not guilty. McGlothlin is set for for trial  Dec 8th (bet you guessed that one) and Taylor set for DEc 15 at 9am.
Remember Ms Taylor, Eden Taylor> That's the lady that used to be a correctional officer over in Pocahantas County  before sexing it up with an inmate, getting fired and then guilty of her transgressions. Not sure how she wound up in County Clay but while here,Taylor tried to escape custody by crawling thru the upstairs duct work before being apprehended above the ceiling in the Circuit Clerk's office.

Still doing some catching up duties...

Sometime before the Corony bug closed down the Courthouse, Judge Facemire was back on the bench conducting business including accepting guilty pleas. Here goes.
Trying to get Bradley Stone into Court to answer the indictments against him, he can't be found. Jim Samples told the court, nope can't find him. Because Mr Stone has not been served his summons, no capias can be issued.
Raymond Brown was back in Court with Sherry McGlothlin and Billy Todd Schoonover participating via the internet connection. All three raised their hands and promised to tell the truth... today.
Instead of taking hours and doing the court work one on one, all three cases were heard at once.
As for the pedophile, Raymond Brown, he plead to two counts, everything else was tossed, and has to pay restitution. He's looking at 20 to 40 years in the big house. For a 49 year old, that almost amounts to a life sentence. Good! AS best we could hear, from Brown: I made a mistake, have worked all my life, this cost me my friends and family.... With tears in his voice, I did have sex when she was 12 years old and grand daughter....
Although hard to hear, Schoonover did not admit to being guilty. Instead, he went the "no contest" route. No contest still means guilty in the eye of law. He's guilty of obscene material one count. His sentence could amount to 5 years in lock down and a $25,000 fine. From the court record, Schoonover tried to seduce a grand daughter with obscene matter.
Sherry McGlothlin plead to felony forgery with all others charged dismissed. She will also have to pay restitution.
Around 10:55am, Judge Ric Facemire accepted the guilty please and found them guilty as sin.
Justice served.
