CCC Votes Variance
Feb 24 2021

It was another interesting public meeting on Feb 24th when the Clay County Commission convened a public meeting in the Courthouse. All three Commissioners were on hand for the gathering as were around 20 in the peanut gallery.
Leadership went thru the usual blah blah blah of settling or moving along estates.
In the way of hiring, the new Ambulance Director is Aaron Williams, part time at $18 per hour.
Other hires include Alexis Adkins as an ambulance driver (9.50 per hour); Austin Cruse as a driver (9.50 hour); Joseph Dawson 911 dispatcher ($10/hr);  Cheyenne Truman dispatcher (10 /hr); Gracie Truman dispatcher (10/ hr) and Connie Truman as Asst  Ambulance Director at $16 per hour.
Remember when Bethany Methodist Church asked for $2000 for food distribution with the $$$ coming from covid money? After checking with the gov's office, no can do, those dollars could only be used for covid victims.
And then , the keeper from the Feb 24th meeting.
Evil state administrators have asked the CCC to make changes in the always controversial flood plain ordinance. For the 24th, it was up for the second and final reading as required by law.
What the change amounted to is, if you know the right person or otherwise have a bunch of $$$, you don't have to follow all the strings attached to the Flood Plain Ordinance.
With the change now in place, all you have to do is ask for a "variant." The only reason you have to give for a variant is, it's such a hardship .... IE flood insurance costs too D!!! much!
  Here's the fun part.
Just before the meeting opened, discussion was on the ordinance change. During that back and forth, Flood Plain Director Stacy King proclaimed "We will NEVER ever give one!" She was talking about never handing out a variant.
After the motion was made and seconded, during discussion, one lard arss asked, why have a variant on the books if you are never going to issue one?  Fran stammered around while giving Stacey the evil eye. Mention came of the quote from Stacey, about never issuing a variant.
With egg on her face and her thang in the wringer, Stacey backed up with something along the lines of, I stand corrected.
Always fun to catch em up in their own words.
Clayberry is about to get screwed again.
Currently, all the watery juice from fracking can be stuffed back in the ground. Now, there is an effort to haul in millions of tons of dead fracking fluids from out of the area and stuff them underground in the Lizemores area.
Lizemore is already home to some of the most unusable wawa in the county. Adding millions of gallons of secret caustic underground, that is not going to make things any better.
The EPA has already given notice of the out of state dumping plans and have asked for public comments and, if anyone want to have a public hearing, do so now.
That topic came up during the CCC meeting as a discussion item. When one guy asked for a public hearing to be called by the Commission, none of the elected folks jumped at the opportunity to stop rotten crap going undeground. Instead, Commission Prez Fran King said she would take it under advisement.
