School Board Meets
March 14 2022

prepare to go to National Competition in DC. They need some
$$$ to make it happen. Can you donate? Call Phil over at Clay

It's interesting to watch when a wheel comes off
a well oiled machine. That's what's been happening in 2022 for
the Clayberry School Board and the Pentagon.
The Board held their public meeting on March 14th
in the basement of the Pentagon. All Boardsters participated
with Morgan Triplett joining in via the tele. Chairs in the
peanut gallery were nearly filled including several of the
candidates for School Board during the May Primary Election.
They went thru the various ho hum motions with no
descent except item 9 which read : Approve the transfer of
Crystal Gibson from CCHS Principal to Homeless Specialist
(grant funded).
Know what's going on? Here's some background.
In Feb Clay High teachers staged a coup. 26 of 30
teachers agreed to a vote of no confidence which in reality
meant, they wanted rid of CCHS Principal Gibson and Vo Ag
Director Bob Morris. To have that much gumption, backbone,
gonads, that really says something.
That no confidence letter including a list of
grievances was sent to the Pentagon which already knew they
had a problem at CCHS, a big problem.
Since then, administration has worked to get thru this
crisis. Their shorts have been all bunched up. Making
matters worse, lots of people have been showing up at Board
public meetings. The Board hates it when the prying eyes of
the taxpayer are looking at em.
Fast forward to the end of Feb where the creation of a
new job to put Ms Gibson out to pasture was on a meeting
agenda. The job posting was structured to meet the
qualifications of only Gibson. Just before the vote to
send Gibson out to pasture, low and behold, a wrench got in
the big gear. A second candidate turned in her
application for the job.
Instead of a quick vote and get the outgoing Principal
away from the CCHS work site, everything stopped as
interviews had to be held.
That was a slow down Superintendent Joe Paxton
did not expect nor could he control when the other applicant
advanced her resume.
For this March 14th meeting, item 9 came up for a
vote. Instead of the usual all Ayes, there was a split. First
Nay came from Boardster Cheryl White followed a split second
later by Susan Bodkins. A split vote, 2 to 2, means, the
Pentagon nor Board Chair Dave Mullins had their act together.
The split was the same as throwing someone under the
proverbial bus.
With Dave Pierson and Morgan Triplett voting to
transfer the Principal and Susan and Cheryl voting no way
Jose, that put Chair Mullins in the hot seat. He had to show
his hand. His hand was, Aye in favor of the transfer. Because
there was no discussion by any official, we don't know why the
Aye or Nay vote.
Maybe just maybe, a No vote meant: we don't want to
give the outgoing Principal an easy way out. Maybe, a No vote
meant they wanted to leave the long time Principal at CCHS in
place.
With the vote in place, Principal Gibson will
remain at CCHS until her replacement is named according
to Super Paxton.
It's almost election time and the Pentagon wants
to keep their existing Board.
The group just lost their Excess Levy
Election, something that added a bunch of pork and something
they really wanted to have.
Then there was all the rat poo in the Home Ec
classroom
The came the employee uprising.
Then there was a widow lady wanting $$$ from her
deceased husband's benefits and was denied.
And now, just now, comes the first mention of
some kind of who doo about using school security cameras to
identify who voted during the Jan 29th Excess Levy Election.
Jan, Feb, and March have been double H for the
normally in control, Clayberry School System.
What a great year for media and it's just getting
started.
Around the corner is the May Primary Election.
That should indicate how close taxpayers are
understanding what has been going on for decades.
Welcome 2022!
