My name is
Vanessa Dunigan and I am pleased to officially announce my
candidacy for The Clay County Commissioner’s Office.
I’m a lifelong resident of Clay County where I was
raised in Big Otter by my single mother, Kay (Cottrell) Coleman.
In my upbringing my Mother along with my Grandparents, Okey
& Nellie Cottrell, always taught me how to work hard, be
respectful and that a good reputation was worth more than any
amount of money.
I have used those fundamentals to shape my life
into the beautiful chaos it is now. I’m a happily married woman
to my thoughtful and handy husband, Thomas Dunigan. In our
16year relationship we have been blessed with 2 beautiful
daughters KayteLynn and Lillian. We currently reside in our home
in Maysel and hope to build our forever home soon.
We have been extremely active in the community for
many years, but almost engulfed in activities for the last 2
years. I am honored to currently serve as Treasurer on the
Deliciously Vivid Beautification Group here in Clay.
In Deliciously Vivid our vivacious team tries, and
generally succeeds, in bringing joy, beauty, cleanliness and
organization to the community by hosting free events. In a lot
of ways, I plan to continue those same types of ideas and events
as commissioner.
If elected to represent Clay County I promise to
continue to love and respect our people to the best of my
abilities. I can also promise to be present and listen to our
citizens and not just show up a few days out of the month and
expect pay. Although, I would love to announce 100 ideas that I
could promise to achieve, that is just not feasible. I cannot
nobly make promises on particular items, because I’m aware, just
like you, that we are in financial distresses as a county.
However, I can promise to respectfully work
together with all elected officials to provide great
opportunities for our beautiful county and citizens. I promise
to have an open heart and mind to new ideas. To fight for what I
believe is right and always be the voice of our people. I truly
feel a paradigm shift in the direction of tourism. I believe
wholeheartedly that is our future. Tourism can and will bring
joy and happiness back to our citizens. Please allow me to be a
part of the force that brings Clay County back!
