For a full decade, the vast majority of
thievery originated from Murder Mountain in the Ovapa neighborhood. Everything
from bulldozers, skid steers, backhoes, chainsaws, riding lawn mowers,
it all wound up on Murder Mountain. The unlawful enterprise was run by
the Young family with emphasis on Tommy Sr and Tommy Jr.
It was a standing joke, if something came
up missing, the first place Badges went, was Murder Mountain. Both
Tommys drove dually Chevy trucks capable of pulling heavy loads,
trailers full of swiped stuff. Stealing was their middle name. It was in
their blood.
Eventually, the two Tommy's were arrested
by the Feds on interstate commerce violations and spent time in the slammer.
While in prison, the bullet riddled Murder Mountain housing was burned
to the ground or otherwise destroyed.
Adding to the excitement, often, round
after round of gunfire was heard from the top of the ridge. Thousands of
rounds were expended. One of their close relatives wound up shot. So did
Tommy Sr.
During one of their local court cases,
something to do with Sr getting shot in the leg, during a break, and as
both Tommy's were leaving the Courtroom, Jr quietly sad to his Dad, if
you don't keep your mouth shut, I'll shoot you again!!
Here's the skinny about the Tommys. Both
were hands down the most polite people ever imagined. When in public, they
were model citizenry. The problem came when nightfall came and world was
their playground.
2020
Back during the heyday, Jacob Young was
a very young teen. Just like any kid, he looked up to his older brother
and Dad. Even tho both the brother and Dad were locked up, they influenced
him greatly. Jacob has been arrested several times for the same stealing
tendency. It's a family tradition!
Jacob is back in the news and arrested
in Feb. 2020.
Green Shirt J Ellis had the honor to arrest
Jacob the third week in Feb. From the edited and paraphrased Criminal Complaint,
here goes:
On Feb 19th, Ellis received information
that Jacob Young was at the Bobcat dealer in Cross Lanes and attempted
to purchase a drive belt for A300 Bobcat. The workers at the store knew
that a A300 had recently been stolen and the A300 was not a common model
of Bobcat. The workers only knew of 3 in the area. The workers made Jacob
show ID and then alerted Badges
Upon further investigation, it was discovered,
an A 300 was stolen from the Huntington area. That skid steer was described
as white in color having wheels, not tracks, Along with the machine was
a set of forks and a Bobcat jack hammer attachment. Mr Young is suspected
to have stolen a large amount of copper from the Huntington area.
A search warrant was issued Feb 20th for
1072 Reed Fork Road, Procious.
Yelp, in plain view was the jackhammer
attachment in the driveway. Upon running the VIN, it was confirmed, stolen!
As for the Bobcat setting there, it appeared
that VIN plate had been altered by not having factory rivets. Also, the
decals on the side of the machine had been changed to read Turbo 863 Bobcat.
With the equipment over at King's Towing,
a worker from Bobcat came up and with his puter hooked up, it was
confirmed to be a A300 and the correct VIN was confirmed to be stolen.
The combined total value of the stolen property recovered was $34,000.
Jacob Young is charged with felony receiving
transferring stolen property and altering a VIN.
It sure feels like, another generation of the clan is up and operating.
