Scant Commission Meeting
May 22 2023

County Commission's May 22nd public meeting lasted less than 30 minutes. Yelp, all the Clayberry problems were solved in just 30 minutes.
There was a time when all county governments carried state issued insurance policies known as BRIM coverage. 18 or so years ago a group of Commissioners got together and formed their own insurance "pool". Clayberry entered into that pool under the guidance of Commissioner Peter Triplett back then.
For this meeting, after a presentation by the Counties Risk Pool Rep. Vivian Parsons, the CCC voted to continue the coverage for another year.
The revolving door at the 911 Dispatch Center continued with the hiring of two more dispatchers, Grant Krajeski and Kimberly McDonald at $14 / hour.
With a beaming smile, David Schoolcraft glowed when the CCC approved a $1.45 million grant to finish the long empty, Judicial Annex center beside the Courthouse. Note: That's the building, along with the Courthouse itself, that flooded during the 2016 Great Wash Out flood.

The most important business item on the May 22nd Commission meeting agenda was the hiring of a County Clerk. That elected position came open when long time Clerk Connie Workman resigned her position 6 weeks ago. The vote to hire Sheila Stone was unanimous vote. From CCC Prez Dave Schoolcraft: You will do a great job...Not a better person for it...
That 's about it for May 22nd Clay County Commission.

With so little public business done in public, we thought we would add some of the pictures that appeared on our home page from the last few weeks.
The just below image came from a reader and highlights the dirty deeds done dirt cheap here in the Land of Little.
Commissioner Dave Schoolcraft is the responsible party for maintaining the County's only public picnic area, Spread Park. Notice the near pristine condition of the place just a couple days before Mother's Day weekend.
