County Commission held
their public meeting May 27th. Commissioner King started
the session with COVD mask strapped under chin. it didn't
take long for her to remove it altogether. Commissioners
Kinder and Fitzwater didn't even try to wear a mask. A
dozen or so taxpayers were in the peanut gallery to watch
govt in action. Those 12 included included two contenders
for outgoing Commissioner Fitzwater's perch. Those two
were Vanessa Dunigan and David Schoolcraft. Prosecutor
Samples was in and out of the meeting a couple times but
said nothing.
Angela Brown
The
entire meeting went just 9 minutes, a near record. With
little in the way of decisions to be made. Health Dept
Czar Angela Brown sought a letter of support for a grant
application to buy and maintain big plastic recycling
boxes to be set at schools, Courthouses, and businesses.
If funded, the grant will have enough loot built in to
hire a contractor to empty the boxes over 14 months.
Sounded like the CCC was supportive of the idea. Expect a
vote on the matter in early June.
Commissioner Kinder is over on the left behind those boxes.
And the
main thang for the 27th, the last item on the agenda was
voting into office a replacement Top Badge to replace
Donnie Triplett who resigned May 4th.
On May 5th, the CCC voted into that perch, Randy Holcomb, to serve for 30 days only. The vote on the 27th was to fill the unexpired term thru Dec 31st.
Without fanfare, without discussion or decent, with a unanimous vote, Holcomb was selected for the role. Most in the county knew that was going on to happen and it did

Poopy is on the June ballot seeking a seat on the County Commission. Word has it, no secret anyway, his plan is to instead run for Sheriff in Nov as a Democrap. How's that happen? We're not sure it can
First , resigned Sheriff Donnie Triplett has to bail out on his reelection bid. AS of 10:30 this morning, Mr Triplett has NOT done so. He's still listed as the only Demorat in the Demorat Nov contest. We think he will quit but that hasn't happened yet.
Second, let's say that Holcomb does not get the most votes in the CCC race in June. Can he then jump races and run in the Fall in another contest? We don't think so. Sounds like something not allowed by the State Code
Third, If Donnie resigns his run, the local Demorat Committee can submit a name to be on the Nov Ballot. That does not have to be the appointed Sheriff. Why wouldn't they do that? Well... glad you asked. Three years ago when Holcomb ran for county office he placed way back in the pack garnering few votes. Why would the Demorat Committee nominate someone with little chance of winning.
Fourth and finally, the Demorat committee nominates a replacement but it is the Commission that actually allows it on the ballot. Since Poopy is obviously suck up the CCC's butt real deep, they might not accept the committee's wishes.
