Commission Meets & Constitution
on Ballot
June 27th 2022
Clay County Commission
(CCC) held a brief public meeting on June 27th beginning at
10am. Commission Prez Fran King was nowhere to be seen as she
vacationed in some far away land. Commissioner Connie Kinder
handled the organizational duties on the 27th. A dozen or so
attended in the peanut gallery.
Here's a couple highlights from that public assembly
held in the Courthouse Commission room.

Connie Kinder
Last Fall Bill Monterossi from WorkForce WV
attended a CCC meeting and made public plans to add services
to that program as well as secure a more centralized location
for the operation. Bill told all, they want to rent the old
nutrition site in Two Run, would cover the cost of building
repairs, and hoped to be up and running in short order. What
the guy didn't realize was, in Clayberry, nothing happens on
time or in an orderly fashion.
The old nutrition site is owned by the county.
Major upgrades on the sewer system, restrooms, and
electric capacity are muchly needed. Things are so bad, it
can't even be used for much of anything.
There has been an item on the cost of repairs on the
last several agendas. At each chance to get things moving
along, the CCC has tabled their vote. During the last
meeting, Fran King asked they go ahead and vote to "get things
started". They didn't.
For this June 27th gathering, decision was made to
table the vote and not bring it back up.
Readers we think something is going on in the
background. Something dumb since the funding for the project
would come out of the cash cow COVID account.
Since the beginning of time, the Sch Bd has covered the
cost of the part time WVU Extension office secretary. Karen
Nichols holds that position. Item 9 on this agenda was for the
county to pay the $21,764 expense instead of the
Pentagon. The motion passed without comment.
Uh oh, we're going to be studied again.
Every other year or so, some state agency group comes
along and proposes to study us and come up with a game plan
for our illustrious future. All the other colorful ,
glossy, findings are setting on shelves around the Courthouse
(or lost) collecting dust.
This time around, the CCC voted to allow WVU's College
of Law land use and sustainable development agency to come in
and open us up as ripe for a wonderful future.
Lizemore Ambulance Service is long gone, never to
reopen. The service was part of the Lizemore Fire Dept or at
least, housed in the same building. For this meeting, the
Commission voted to purchase one Lizemore ambulance for around
$45K with that Fire Dept coughing up the remaining bank pay
off amount.
Since Republicraps took control of state
government more than 6 years ago, things have gone to crap in
a hand basket. Most don't even know how deceptive they have
been. When you red the name on some new Legislative bill, what
ever they say, the bill actually does just the opposite. If
the bill read "Blue Sky Bill" it really means "Ready for a
Downpour Bill"
Now they want to change the W Va Constitution to dump a
load on the taxpayer. There are 4 changes for the voter to
consider on the November ballot.
How does this sound? You no longer would have to pay
taxes on personal property. Ain't that grand!! Wow!
In reality, when passed, the common taxpayer will
get drilled without Crisco while wealthy businesses and
individuals are off the hook, tax free. Doesn't that sound
fun?
Assessor Teresa Davis brought this matter to the
Commission meeting. She was riled up over losing county tax
dollars.
Just below are the changes as they will appear on the
November ballot. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true,
it's probable just another attempt by the Republicraps to
break it off in us with a smile on their faces.

CCC accepted a $3500 offer during the June 27th auction for this
nice lookin 16 foot box trailer.
