GETTIN' ORGANIZED FOR
FALL
Demorats Meets
July 12 2020

Chair Joe Murphy
Will Rogers once
said, he was not a member of any organized political party, he
was a Democrat. Here in Clayberry, our own Demorat
party is trying to change that.
Sunday afternoon, over at Spread Park, a small band of
Demo's convened a meeting of the Executive Committee in an
outdoor setting. In all, just three members were present.
Turns out, only Joe Murphy is recognized by State
leadership as being on the Committee.
They have right at $3000 in their checking account and
plan to use those funds to support candidates this Fall via
digital ads and bill boards.
In the way of getting organized, among themselves, new
leadership emerged. Joe Murphy and Keith Lahti will serve as
Co Chairs of the County Executive Committee with Keith's wifey
accepting the Sec /Treas slot.
The committee does have an important project on their
hands. They've got
to find someone willing to run for Sheriff during the Nov
General Election. Here's the skinny.
Demorat Donnie Triplett resigned his Sheriff
perch several weeks back but did not remove his name from the
Primary ballot nor the Nov contest. As of July 12th, his name
will still appear on the Nov ballot unless he turns in a
written request to have it removed.
IF he decides to have his name removed from the ballot
and does so before August 11th, the local Demorat Committee
can vote to place a new name on the ballot. Since there is one
Republicrap (Allen King) already on the Nov process, the
Demo's could do something else. They could just leave King as
the lone candidate and a shoe in to win.
So.... the number one name being circulated
around to fill the opening is, was, Poopy Holcomb who was
appointed by the County Commission to serve the unexpired term
of Donnie Triplett. Holcomb has been Sheriff in the past.
Since that rumor of Holcomb switching to the
Sheriff race after losing in the 2020 County Commission race
emerged, something changed. Randy didn't just lose the race,
he did so poorly (only got 240 votes total county wide) , in
one precinct, a dead person got more votes than Holcomb!!!
With his vote getting power at an all time low, it
looks like the Committee is seeking a candidate more able to
win in the November contest.
How about you? Interested in a $50K + job? You need to
let Joe and Keith know. If your name is not in the hat, you
will be left out in the cold.
Before you get too excited, the local Committee can do
nothing official until Mr Triplett pulls his name from
consideration. The next meeting of the Clay County Demorat
Committee will meet on August 2nd, 6pm, Spread Park.
One last note.
Even with Donnie Triplett telling everyone he quit the
Top Badge job, he still garnered nearly 800 votes in May!.
That's enough to win in Nov. Maybe the best bet for a Demo
Sheriff is to keep Donnie on the ballot. True Donnie didn't
accomplish much while in that capacity, at least he didn't do
a bunch of stupid crap and embarrass us like previous
Sheriff's have done.
