DEMO'S Rally
August 19th 2020

Clay County's Demorat Executive Committee did everything right to let the voters know, something important was going on. They used the local newspaper (The Communicator), social media, and even announced the Meet the Candidate rally on the local radio station. On August 19th, the weather was perfect for an outdoor event.

Years ago, a Demo rally was a big event and many potential voters showed up to rub elbows. One held up at the Big Otter Community Center and another at the old VFW Hall, and others, were packed. People had to wait outdoors for the meet and greet.
That's not the case these days. During the last 15 years, that has all changed. Maybe Corona has some influence this year, but on August 19th, other than candidates for office, spouses, and family, there wasn't a voter or vote to be had.
Staged over at the Dundon Campground, there was plenty of space for social distancing. Gladly we can report, face masks were worn by all attendees. That's a good thang.

Bob Beach Ag Commissioner Candidate          Kathy Kunkel 2nd Congressional Candidate

Larry Cottrell  33rd House of Delegates

Mark A Hunt -32nd District Candidate

Each candidate was provided a chance to speak their case over the PA system. All did and handled themselves well. There was some applause here and there. Messages were loud and clear . They had had enough of Republicraps in office operating without experience and had done little to zero in the way of improving life for the common West Virginian.

Mary Ann Claytor for State auditor

Cottrell provided a timely political message via a tune

Selena Vickers House 32hd District

Randy Holcomb, Clay Sheriff Candidate

We did notice something common among all the speakers. None of em, not even their placards, even mentioned, they were from the Democratic party. Not so long ago, that Demo affiliation meant something. Heck, in this county, for a successful run at public office, a candidate had to switch parties to Demorat to have any chance at winning.
We watched one day later, on the Boob Tube, while giving his acceptance speech , Joe Biden said, I am proud to be a Democrat.
Maybe Clayonian candidates might make sure which side they're on and let voters know ahead of time.
