As a citizen
of Clay County I have some questions.
When the county rented a pot chopper,
extra manpower, extra side by sides, extra atv's and extra
trucks this month how much did it cost us tax payers? And
did the amount of pot plants they found end up with a street
value more than what it cost to rent everything to find
them? I would bet anything that we paid for more than what
we got in return. It doesn't add up at all.
CCC raised our 911 fee
another dollar a month. That's $12 a year. The last
census said Clay had a population of 8,??? I'll be generous
and say 9,000 people live here. So that's $108,000 a year.
Now I know everyone doesn't have a land line phone so we'll
say half of the county has one. That's still $54,000 a
year. All this money is to go to upgrading our 911
system. The way the news talked about it you would think our
911 center is in a crisis. Which leads me to this....if our
911 is in such bad shape why didn't they write a grant or
fill out an application for some of the stimulus money?
There is millions of dollars available just for these kind
of upgrades. Does anyone on CCC know how to do their job and
get Clay County some grant or stimulus money???? I guess I
can answer that question myself since our 911 fees were
raised 2 months ago.
I think it's sad
that nobody realizes the money that is available and
waiting for Clay County politicians to apply for and
use.
Call me crazy or say I'm
wrong but politics in Clay are all screwed up. Jeff Boggs
taught me a long time ago that politics in Clay are dirty
and the politicians in Clay were lining their pockets with
dirty money. That's funny when you look at where he came
from when he was first elected to where he is today, that
could only happen in Clay.
I'm writing this because
I am tired of Clay having such a bad name. Every time I
introduce myself to someone and say I'm from Clay County I
get the same response......good place to buy meth, heroin
and pills and an excellent location to get away with murder.
I have been to other states and they've heard of the
"getting away with murder" in Clay WV. I get embarrassed
because it's true.
I hope someone will read
this and provide some much needed answers.
One last thing. I know 2
abandoned houses with no utilities hooked up to them burnt
down last night. But do we really need to pay a fire
Marshall to come and say "yeah, it's arson. " ??? It doesn't
take a genius to figure that out. Yet here we go again
wasting money for something that is not needed. Gotta love
Clay County and it's ways
Editor's Note: The county 911 fee was doubled by the County
Commission. David Schoolcraft was the lead sponsor of this
increase. hat doubling vote now amounts to $24 per year
instead of $12. AW
