I am a member of the BC&G Railway in Clay CountY and I am working to make this a tourist destination. I have obtained funding for economic development projects, ambulance acquisition and libraries in Clay. I support college access for Clay Countians at the former Valley Fork Elementary School. I opposed the legislative pay increase because state employees should come first. No legislator I know qualifies for food stamps.

West Virginia lives. It is the most important healthcare bill passed this year." Susan Stuart, pres., CORE t1

PINO CANDIDATE PROFILE
I was born of immigrant parents in Mt. Hope, WV. They came here seeking a better life, and they, like others of their generation, left it better for those of us who followed them. I strive to imitate them. I married Mary Edgar Hayes. We have eight children and 26 grandchildren. I am a graduate of Mt. Hope High School and founder/owner of Pino Construction Company. I am a past WVIT committee member establishing a construction degree. I served on the panel developing the Fayette County Comprehensive Water Resource Plan. I am the Treasurer of the Fayette/Nicholas Chapter of the American Red Cross. I am a member of the NRA and the Knights of Columbus.
Legislatively, I served ten years as Speaker-Pro- Tempore, as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary; now serve as Chair of the Commission on Inter-state Cooperation, the Judiciary, Roads and Transportation and HHR committees. I also serve on the Select Committee on Senior Citizen Issues, which is very important because of the growing
number of seniors and the challenges they are facing. With this in mind, I fought against the water rate increase. Our seniors are bright and we must utilize their vast experience.
I chaired the Oak Hill Board of Zoning Appeals for twenty years. I was a Director of the non-profit Fayettet Plateau Business Development Corporation which brought the Visitor's Center, the Oak Hill Holiday Inn and the property for the Glen Jean Armory. I was instrumental in obtaining state funding for the Wolf Creek Park property.  I am a member of the BC&G Railroad in Clay County and I am working to make this a tourist destination. I have obtained funding for economic development projects, ambulance acquisition and libraries in Clay. I support college access for Clay Countians at the former Valley Fork Elementary School. I am terribly bothered by the emerging tendencies of the media, certain enterprises and some elected persons to put down Faith communities (churches). This was evident during the gambling expansion and the captive audience legislation. There is a !,Tfowing movement to silence and attempt to shame people of faith when they voice their opinions. It would be sad if this trend went any further. As government shapes the , image and policies of this state, all West Virginians deserve to be heard.
I am on a panel addressing drug use and under-age drinking, which threaten our  nation's future. We must declare war on these problems. I opposed the legislative pay increase because state employees should come first.
No legislator I know qualifies for food stamps.  I have been blessed by a number of good things. Among these are; being born in a good land to good parents, having had good teachers in good schools, having a good wife who remains the heart ofa good family, having some success doing what I best like to do, i.e., serving others. This certainly includes my constituents in the291h District.
They will understand when I say, "Most of all, I thank the benevolent God." Respectfully submitted   Delegate John Pino
